Chapter 6 Mission Reset
Chapter 6 Mission Reset
Upon hearing Li Jiuhe say that he could help them, Jiang Kun and Chen Yin exchanged a glance.
They were somewhat surprised, as their current situation was clearly very strange, and it seemed that Yao Yujie had turned into a ghost and come to their door.
In this situation, the other party still said they wanted to help them. Is Li Jiuhe not afraid of ghosts? Or does he have some other ulterior motive?
The couple seemed to have thought of something at the same time. Jiang Kun secretly gave Chen Yin a look, and Chen Yin nodded slightly. Both of them became wary of Li Jiuhe.
"Mr. Li, what do you do for a living?"
Jiang Kun did not answer Li Jiuhe immediately, but suddenly asked about his profession.
"I work for a renovation company, doing interior design," Li Jiuhe said honestly.
Jiang Kun nodded, feeling slightly relieved, before speaking: "My ex-wife, Yao Yujie, died unexpectedly last month. At the time, we were going through a divorce, and the court couldn't mediate. We were almost about to announce the verdict."
"So your relationship has been strained for a long time?" Li Jiuhe asked in surprise.
"Yeah, it's been on and off for over a year," Jiang Kun said. "She can't get pregnant, but I don't blame her at all; she's just being paranoid. At first, she just blamed herself, then she started finding ways to argue with me, and she became increasingly unreasonable..."
At this point, the bedroom door suddenly banged, as if someone was standing outside pounding on it.
The people in the room were stunned for a moment, and Jiang Kun and Chen Yin once again showed expressions of fear.
"Don't speak ill of her!" Chen Yin quickly whispered.
"But I... I'm telling the truth!" Jiang Kun's tone remained the same, but he had lowered his voice considerably.
Li Jiuhe turned his gaze away from the direction of the bedroom door.
He also found the whole thing very strange. According to the time traveler who possessed his daughter, there were no ghosts in this world.
But what they are experiencing now is clearly a ghost encounter. Yao Yujie's ghost was just hiding in the darkness, but now it is standing outside the door.
"And then?"
"Later, Yao Yujie's mental state became unstable, and she became crazy. I couldn't stand her making a small fuss every day and a big fuss every three days, so I proposed to divorce her."
Jiang Kun lowered his voice and spoke while looking at the doorway.
"She disagrees?"
No, she agreed.
"Then why did it end up in court?"
"The problem is with this house. She bought the house before the marriage, but the registration was changed after the marriage, and we are joint owners. I'm demanding half for each of us, but she wants me to leave with nothing."
"So she had an accident before the court even issued a verdict?" Li Jiuhe stroked his chin. "What kind of accident?"
Jiang Kun said, "There were a few days of strong winds last month. Yao Yujie was out on the street that day when several flower pots fell from the rooftop. She was hit by one of the flower pots and died on the spot."
Li Jiuhe recalled the scene when he saw Yao Yujie in the stairwell.
The woman was covered in blood, as if it had flowed from the top of her head. Her upper body clothes were more soaked in blood, while her pants had relatively less blood on them.
Chen Yin whispered, "The police have already examined the scene and investigated Jiang Kun for a long time. In the end, they proved that he had nothing to do with it. The woman's death was an accident."
Hearing her words, and considering the woman's reaction just now, Li Jiuhe suddenly wanted to laugh.
He pointed to the bedroom door and asked, "Yao Yujie is in the living room right now. You said it was an accident, so let's open the door and ask her if it was an accident?"
"No!"
"Don't open the door!"
The man and woman immediately stopped them in unison.
Li Jiuhe spread his hands: "If you don't tell the truth, how can I help you drive away her ghost?"
"You...you don't need to worry about it." Jiang Kun suddenly said, "We...we don't need your help. We'll wait until dawn, and then we'll find a Taoist priest who knows about this."
"Can we wait until tomorrow?" Li Jiuhe asked.
These words startled Jiang Kun and Chen Yin slightly, who thought to themselves, "Yes, what if we don't even survive tonight? How can we possibly wait until tomorrow?"
Just then, the bedroom door made another dull thud, and this time the impact even caused the door panel to crack slightly, indicating that something had been damaged.
Jiang Kun and Chen Yin instinctively grabbed each other's arms and stood together, looking at the door in horror.
Judging by this, they really won't make it to tomorrow.
But when Li Jiuhe saw this, he was slightly taken aback and showed a thoughtful expression.
"It's...it's over, Yao Yujie is...she's coming in! Jiang Kun, quickly find something to...stop the door."
Clap!
The bedroom door was slammed hard again, denting inwards and cracking open to reveal a gap the size of a palm.
Through the crack, the people inside could see Yao Yujie's tall figure standing outside the door. The woman's head was split open from the upper right side of her forehead, and part of it had collapsed, with the red and white areas clearly visible.
The intense fear not only made Chen Yin scream, but even Jiang Kun was so frightened that he screamed wildly, his eyes bulging and his whole body trembling uncontrollably.
The two tried to drag the bed over to block the door, but the bed was too heavy, and they were too terrified to move it.
Li Jiuhe was also quite frightened by this scene, and quickly took two steps back, hiding in the corner of the bedroom.
The door panels continued to shatter, and Yao Yujie's pale fingers, like iron hoops, crushed the door panels blocking her way as if grasping foam.
The broken doorway was getting bigger and bigger, and it looked like she was about to squeeze through.
In a moment of desperation, Jiang Kun suddenly grabbed the trembling Chen Yin, pressed her against himself, and pushed her toward the door.
"It was her, she wanted to kill you! It has nothing to do with me! She was the one who came up with the whole plan, Yujie, please don't blame me! I was just following Chen Yin's plan and had someone do it..."
No sooner had she finished speaking than Yao Yujie grabbed Chen Yin, whose face was filled with terror, through the door.
Suddenly, Chen Yin's body began to tremble violently. The next second, her spine was pierced, and a blood-stained arm stretched out.
Chen Yin could no longer scream; her body was just convulsing.
This terrifying scene almost made Jiang Kun faint. He didn't know where he got the strength, but he quickly turned around and ran towards Li Jiuhe.
He grabbed Li Jiuhe, preparing to use the same trick again and push him in front of him.
Li Jiuhe wasn't going to let him do as he pleased, so he punched the guy hard in the face.
Jiang Kun stumbled and fell to the ground.
Seeing the guy's terrified expression as he covered his mouth, Li Jiuhe sighed inwardly.
The situation is now completely out of his control; strictly speaking, he has already failed in this mission.
Because the abnormal events were not cleared up, but instead escalated to the point of no return.
However, he gained a lot of information, especially Jiang Kun's words, which exposed the fact that he and Chen Yin conspired to murder Yao Yujie.
Moreover, he had some guesses as to why Yao Yujie, this vengeful ghost, had suddenly become so ferocious.
Perhaps what the time traveler said was true; there are no ghosts in this world.
The moment the thought crossed Li Jiuhe's mind, he activated the mission reset.
The scene before him suddenly changed, and almost without him noticing, he found himself back in the stairwell on the fifth floor.
This is exactly where the "task reset point" is automatically set.
The number "2" under his eye has now changed to "1", indicating that he can reset it one more time.
I took out my phone and glanced at it, only to find that it was almost 4 a.m.
In other words, he just reset the progress of the mission, but the world timeline is still moving forward and will not be affected.
All people, things, and events involved in this task will be restored to their state before the reset after the reset.
However, only Li Jiuhe, the "task definer," retained his memories from before the reset; everyone else's memories were completely reset.
