Chapter 1941 Seeing Through the Plan of Separation
Chapter 1941 Seeing Through the Plan of Separation
Liu Balang pulled the reins and looked up.
The flames rising from the backyard of the mansion made his pupils turn red, and the thick smoke with a burning smell rushed towards him, choking him and making him cough violently.
"What are you all standing there for!" He roared at the top of his lungs, "Bring all the buckets from the well over here, and clear the piles of firewood around the warehouse!"
The servants were already frightened by the fire and were at a loss as to what to do. Now that they saw their master return, they felt like they had found their backbone.
A dozen servants hurriedly grabbed buckets and carrying poles, and the sound of splashing water mixed with the crackling of firewood exploded in the night sky.
The ice-cold well water splashed against the scorching brick wall, sending up a white mist. The veins on Liu Balang's forehead throbbed, and his heart felt like it was on fire.
Half an hour later, when the last spark of fire was covered by sand, Liu Balang finally breathed a sigh of relief.
He looked at the blackened beams and was about to order someone to count the losses when a servant came crawling from the backyard.
"Master! Something bad has happened!" The servant's voice trembled as he pointed in the direction of the warehouse. "Back, backyard warehouse..."
"What happened to the warehouse?" Liu Balang's heart sank, and his breathing, which had just calmed down, became rapid again.
"It's empty!" cried the boy, his voice tingling with tears. "Everything inside is gone!"
"What are you yelling about?" Liu Balang grabbed his collar with such force that he almost lifted him up. "What are you yelling about?"
Before he could finish his words, he shook off the servant and stumbled towards the warehouse.
The heavy wooden door opened with a creaking sound. Liu Balang's foot, which was about to cross the threshold, suddenly stopped and a breath was choked in his throat.
The warehouse that was once full of people is now empty. All the valuables and boxes have disappeared without a trace. The light coming in from the window casts mottled shadows in the empty warehouse.
Except for the four blackened walls and doors and windows, the place is as clean as if it had been washed.
Liu Balang staggered inside and stood blankly in the middle of the empty warehouse, his mind also going blank.
He really couldn't understand how it turned out like this, as if he was in a dream.
"How could this happen...how could everything be gone..." He muttered to himself, his vision going dark.
This is not only wealth, but also the foundation for his future achievements. Without these things, everything he has worked hard for will come to nothing.
"puff--"
A fishy, sweet taste suddenly surged up his throat. Liu Balang clutched his chest, and bright red blood foam leaked out from between his fingers, splashing onto the cold blue bricks. His eyes widened in disbelief, his body swaying, and he fell straight back.
"Master!" The servant guarding the door cried out and rushed over, but only caught his limp body.
As the lights came on, Liu Jiulang sat in his study, his fingertips still feeling the coolness of the hidden weapon he had clenched tightly.
The hidden weapon shot by Huo Changhe was now lying on the desk.
"Zhou Lie." His voice was calm and steady. "Today in the teahouse, did you see clearly who fired the hidden weapon?"
Liu Jiulang poured himself a cup of cold tea and his eyes fell on the flickering candlelight.
Zhou Lie frowned. "The scene was too chaotic. The hidden weapon seemed to have come from the direction of the teahouse, directly hitting Master Ba. If it weren't for the guards around him, he would have died a long time ago. However, I've asked around, and none of our people have any. Besides..."
Liu Jiulang paused holding the teacup: "What else?"
Zhou Lie whispered, "Our men don't have that kind of skills."
This is indeed true.
Liu Jiulang looked at the hidden weapon again. It was completely different from the one he used to hit Zhou Lie before. This hidden weapon was heavy and sharp, and could break bones.
This person should not be the same one who shot the willow leaf dart last time.
Liu Jiulang pondered and said, "Although Liu Balang is reckless, he wouldn't act so recklessly in public."
He drummed his fingertips on the table. "Especially since it's almost time to worship the water god, he definitely won't seek trouble."
Zhou Lie looked up: "You mean..."
"Someone wants to use me to get rid of him, or to turn us brothers against each other completely."
Suddenly, there was the sound of a bird flapping its wings outside the window. Liu Jiulang's eyes flashed, and he immediately stood up and walked to the window and pushed it open.
But he saw nothing, only the branches of trees swaying outside the window.
"Zhou Lie, give orders that all the food sent to the Governor's Mansion be delivered today. Also, no further conflict should occur with Liu Balang's men."
Zhou Lie responded and tried to retreat, but was stopped by Liu Jiulang.
"Also, double-check those gangsters you recruited," he lowered his voice. "I want to see who's behind this."
After Zhou Lie disappeared into the night, Liu Jiulang walked to the window. The moonlight was as cool as water, casting uneven shadows on the pomegranate tree in the courtyard.
He felt vaguely uneasy.
After Yan Ruyu and Huo Changhe returned from Liu's house, they did not go out again and rested in their residence for half a day.
Wait until night and go to Liu's house again.
That strange courtyard really made Yan Ruyu worried.
We have to find out more.
The Liu Mansion was still filled with a burnt smell, and even the air was a bit hot.
The houses that were reduced to ashes were nothing. To Liu Balang, this loss was nothing.
The key point is the large warehouse that was robbed.
Liu Balang vomited blood and fell to the ground, unconscious, and has not woken up yet.
Sun Qing was also injured. After being bandaged, he stayed in his yard and did not go out.
While I was sitting in the yard, a bird flew over and landed on a branch.
The bird's eyes were black and shiny, like small black beans, and it blinked at him.
Sun Qing immediately recognized it as the princess's bird!
That clever starling.
Sun Qing was surprised and immediately realized that the bird was sent by the princess to deliver a message.
He quickly stood up, not daring to say anything in the yard, and turned to go into the house.
There was a snack on a plate on the table in the room, and Sun Qing took some to feed the starling.
"Come on, eat."
The starling didn't move, but glanced over there.
Sun Qing was stunned. He didn't know if it was an illusion, but he always felt that this bird seemed to be looking down on him just now.
"See you in the back yard in a quarter of an hour."
Mynah bird spoke.
Sun Qing came over immediately and looked out the window: "Okay, I get it."
The starling said nothing more and walked a few steps on the table with his little paws.
Sun Qing subconsciously asked, "Leaving now?"
The starling tilted its head to look at him, flapped its wings, and flew to the windowsill.
Sun Qing pointed and nodded: "You really don't want to eat?"
"It tastes terrible. I don't want to eat it."
Sun Qing: “…”
He suddenly remembered the delicious dried meat that Yan Ruyu fed to the starling.
I'm still drooling when I think about it now. If you think about it this way, this snack really isn't that delicious.
Yan Ruyu and Huo Changhe arrived in less than a quarter of an hour.
Sun Qing came forward to greet him.
Before Yan Ruyu could ask, Sun Qingbao spoke first: "Prince, Princess, this is terrible, something big has happened."
"what's up?"
Sun Qing's expression was serious, yet also somewhat doubtful: "Bandits have come to Rongzhou, and they have extraordinary abilities!"
