Chapter 1214 Waiting for the Rabbit
Chapter 1214 Waiting for the Rabbit
With the mountaintop in sight, I glimpsed a corner of a glazed-tile roof through the gaps in the occasional drifting white clouds.
Lin Feng felt that this must be the location of Yuquan Temple.
As he continued climbing the steps, and turned a corner on a mountain path, suddenly, the broken sword at his waist began to twitch.
A cultivator approached.
Lin Feng was not nervous. Yuquan Temple was his sect, so of course there was no shortage of cultivators there.
Perhaps it was his master who came to see him upon hearing the news.
Without stopping, Lin Feng continued walking uphill.
He wasn't in a hurry, taking steady steps up the stone steps.
Ahead, another platform paved with bluestone appeared, with a stone pedestal in the middle, upon which sat a huge, dark blue-black cauldron.
Two large characters are engraved on the iron cauldron: Jade Float.
Lin Feng's eyes darted around and he saw an old man sitting under the stone platform, calmly watching Lin Feng slowly rise up the stone steps.
The two looked at each other, their eyes filled with surprise and confusion.
Lin Feng immediately recognized the person, who was clearly more surprised than bewildered.
"You are... Senior Brother Shu Fengting?"
Lin Feng smiled and cupped his hands in greeting.
"So it's Senior Brother Yan Xiaojia. What brings you here?"
Yan Xiaojia is a second-generation inner disciple of the Taihang Mountain Sword Formation Sect. He once met Lin Feng in Peng County, east of Luocheng.
At that time, Lin Feng was working as a cook for the Seven Heroes of the Yan family under the name Shu Fengting.
Yan Xiaojia stood up from the ground and sighed.
"My sect has issued a mission for me to find Lin Feng, an inner disciple of Yuquan Temple. The world is so vast, where can I possibly search for him?"
Lin Feng nodded: "Yes, Senior Brother Yan's idea is good. We'll just wait in front of Yuquan Temple. Lin Feng will return to the sect sooner or later."
"That's right. Could it be that Senior Brother Shu also thought of this method?"
Lin Feng remained noncommittal, turning to look at the iron cauldron on the stone platform. He reached out and stroked it; it was covered in rust, yet exuded a profound sense of age.
"Senior Brother Yan, what are your sect's requirements for dealing with Lin Feng?"
Yan Xiaojia sighed: "Naturally, we should advise Lin Feng against participating in worldly struggles, or impose certain punishments on him."
Lin Feng smiled and said, "I'm afraid Senior Brother Yan is too lenient. Cleaning up the house should be the most basic step."
"Your Kunyu Mountain has a grudge against Lin Feng, so naturally you won't let him go. As for the rest... we'll leave it to you."
Yan Xiaojia smiled, then suddenly remembered something.
"Senior Brother Shu, have you ever seen Xiao Ding?"
Lin Feng turned to look at him, and a lively and beautiful face appeared in his mind. Back then, this woman used to pester him all day long, wanting to eat delicious food.
Seeing Lin Feng's bewildered expression, Yan Xiaojia could only shake his head.
"The seven heroes of the Yan family were scattered by the pirates. But before that, Yan Xiaoding left alone. In my opinion, she went to find Senior Brother Shu."
"Find me?"
Lin Feng asked, somewhat surprised.
"Well, although Yan Xiaoding is lively, she is stubborn. Once she sets her mind on something, she will never turn back until she hits a wall. Alas, although I have recognized them as brothers, I treat Xiaoding like my own granddaughter."
Lin Feng laughed and said, "You two can be considered friends despite the age difference."
Yan Xiaojia looked dejected.
“My family was killed by pirates. Although I have severed all ties with the world, I have never forgotten this hatred. I also like to make friends in the martial arts world. After becoming an outer sect steward of the Sword Form Sect, I became even more enthusiastic about traveling the martial arts world. The Seven Heroes of the Yan Clan are my direct descendants.”
"You're putting them in a place teeming with pirates; the prospects are not optimistic."
"Alas, my intention is to use their abilities to kill a few more pirates, as a way to avenge my family."
Why don't you go and kill the pirates?
Yan Xiaojia glanced at Lin Feng.
"That's why we're waiting for Lin Feng here; it's against the rules."
Lin Feng nodded, touched his nose somewhat awkwardly, and coughed twice.
“Senior Brother Yan is right. As cultivators, we should completely sever our worldly ties and focus solely on cultivation.”
Yan Xiaojia sized up Lin Feng a few times.
"Although Senior Brother Shu has been traveling around the world for a long time, he has never given up his cultivation. I feel that you have made great progress."
Lin Feng nodded: "Perhaps wandering the martial world can be considered a form of cultivation."
Yan Xiaojia shook his head: "Senior Brother Shu is covered in blood; he probably came up the mountain to fight his way up."
"Well, for some reason, there have been many bandits in the mountains. They attacked me without knowing why, so I have to give them a stern warning."
"I advise Senior Brother Shu to exercise restraint and not break the sect's rules. Otherwise, Lin Feng of Yuquan Temple will be a prime example."
Lin Feng sneered: "Does Senior Brother Yan really think that Lin Feng was punished by various sects because he broke the rules?"
Yan Xiaojia remained silent for a moment: "Putting everything else aside, this is how it appears on the surface, but it always gives others a handle to use against us."
Lin Feng didn't want to say more to him, in case someone from Yuquan Temple came out and exposed his true identity, it would be awkward.
Although he felt that Yan Xiaojia did not have much ill intentions.
“Senior Brother Yan, since you are already waiting here, I will go and take my leave.”
Yan Xiaojia also cupped his hands in greeting: "Senior Brother Shu, it would be good for you to go down the mountain more often. I heard that there are quite a few people coming down from Kunyu Mountain, so you might be able to run into them."
Lin Feng glanced at him and grinned, revealing his teeth.
"Thank you for telling me, Senior Brother Yan. I will remember it."
After saying that, Lin Feng turned and walked down the mountain.
He pondered to himself that Yan Xiaojia was a seasoned traveler in the martial world, shrewd and calculating, and probably already suspected his identity. His last words were definitely a subtle reminder to him.
Yan Xiaojia's voice came from behind again.
"Senior Brother Shu, if you have the chance to see Xiao Ding, tell her to come to Taihang Mountain to find me, since she is coming to find you."
These words were somewhat fragmented, but Lin Feng understood their meaning. He didn't reply, but simply nodded without stopping.
When he reached the halfway point of the mountain, he saw Qiao Jushan, covered in blood, carrying an iron rod and running up the mountain.
The two met on the stone steps, smiled at each other, and said nothing.
Lin Feng waved his hand, and the two of them headed down the mountain.
From Qiao Jushan's actions, Lin Feng could tell that although he was covered in blood, he was in high spirits and had not suffered any serious injuries.
As soldiers, it's always unavoidable to suffer minor injuries in combat.
After all, Qiao Jushan's cultivation level had not yet reached that level.
The two descended the mountain without encountering another soul, presumably because the ambushers had already scattered upon hearing the news.
When they arrived at the foot of the mountain, the two carriages were still there, and the two drivers were chatting together.
Upon seeing Qiao Jushan covered in dried blood, he immediately panicked and ran back to tidy up the carriages and horses.
Lin Feng and Qiao Jushan each rode in a carriage, calling out to the driver as they headed towards Jingnan City.
Despite the commotion on the mountain, Yuquan Temple remained as quiet as ever, with all the disciples going about their business as usual, as if everything was as peaceful as ever.
Only Daoist Lengquan and Daoist Zhenzhuo were anxious.
They fought tooth and nail halfway up the mountain, and both of them knew that Lin Feng had returned.
However, in front of the gate of Yuquan Temple, there was a cultivator from Taihang Mountain sitting there. This guy looked like someone you didn't want to mess with.
After discussing it for a long time, the two Taoist priests realized that the best way to handle the situation was to remain calm and collected.
Let's all pretend to be dead.
The fact that Lin Feng was able to survive such a storm is the best proof that he has the ability to handle any problem.
Everything that needed to be said has been said, and everything that needed to be done has been done. The remaining issues are left for the parties involved to handle themselves.
Since you, Lin Feng, are unwilling to hide, you must bear these pressures alone.
