"That bastard Ye Xiu is just deliberately making things difficult for us," Ye Shaokang said indignantly. "He said we were responsible for constructing a five-hundred-meter road, but we didn’t expect there to be two small mountains on the route. We have to tunnel through them first, and he didn’t even provide us with tools or explosives. Does he expect us to dig through the mountains with our bare hands?"

The members of the Ye and Long families all burst into laughter.

Just then, the laborer who had been whipped by Long Lin suddenly collapsed and started convulsing on the ground.

"You again!" Furious, Long Lin walked over and cracked his whip on the man, scolding, "Get up! If you try to slack off again, don’t blame me for killing you."

A righteous laborer nearby timidly spoke up, "Liu Dakang is having a seizure, not faking it to get out of work. He’s sick from exhaustion."

Long Lin lashed the righteous laborer. "Are you trying to use defending him as an excuse to slack off?" he said coldly.

The righteous laborer retorted angrily, "How can you abuse people like this? Liu Dakang is already so sick! Are you trying to work him to death?"

"Well, well, you dare talk back to me?" Long Lin roared, enraged.

Just then, Master Long’s icy and ruthless voice cut in, "Long Lin, kill Liu Dakang. Dig a hole and bury him. Anyone else who dares to slack off, or gets too sick to work, is to be killed!"

At these words, all the laborers’ faces turned pale.

"Alright!" Long Lin’s expression turned ferocious. He bent down, picked up a rock, and swung it fiercely toward Liu Dakang’s head.

Seeing this, the laborers’ faces filled with grief and despair. They knew Liu Dakang was doomed.

However, just as the rock in Long Lin’s hand was about to smash into Liu Dakang’s skull, the sound of an approaching helicopter filled the air. Long Lin, the Long and Ye families, and all the laborers looked toward the sound to see a helicopter flying toward them.

Master Long and Ye Tianming exchanged a look.

Ye Tianming whispered urgently, "Quick, quick! Everyone get to work, hurry!"

Everyone from the Long and Ye families scrambled to pretend they were working. They didn’t know who was in the helicopter, but they were terrified that someone would see them lazing about or abusing the laborers and report it to Ye Xiu.

But for the laborers, this was a moment of hope.

"Help! Save us!" the laborer who had spoken up for Liu Dakang shouted toward the helicopter.

The Ye and Long family members were furious. Long Lin yelled, "You bastard, just you wait! Once that helicopter leaves, you’re dead!"

Undeterred, the laborer continued to scream for help. The other laborers joined in, shouting with all their might. They knew the helicopter was their only chance of survival.

Finally, the helicopter arrived, hovering directly above them. A young man jumped out.

When they saw the young man’s face clearly, the expressions of everyone from the Ye and Long families changed drastically. Long Lin, in particular, was so frightened his whole body trembled violently.

"Save us, save us..." The laborer who had spoken up for Liu Dakang scrambled over, fell to his knees before Ye Xiu, and clung to his leg, crying loudly.

"Get up, Uncle. I saw everything. I will get justice for you," Ye Xiu said in a deep voice.

Hearing that Ye Xiu had seen everything, the color drained from the faces of the Ye and Long family members. Long Lin collapsed to the ground in terror.

Ye Xiu walked over to Liu Dakang and squatted down. While checking his condition, he said coldly, "Enjoying yourselves, aren’t you? Master Long and Ye Tianming hurried over. Ye Tianming tried to explain, "Ye Xiu, you’re mistaken! We were just resting. We’ve been working nonstop since we got here. We were just worried we wouldn’t finish in time, so we hired these laborers at a high price."

"Yes, yes, Ye Tianming is right," Master Long added anxiously. "Frankly, we’re exhausted. We only sleep two or three hours a day and spend the rest of the time working. These laborers all came willingly. We pay each of them 10,000 yuan a day!"

The laborers exploded with anger at Master Long’s and Ye Tianming’s lies.

The man who had defended Liu Dakang said furiously, "They’re lying! They captured us! Not only do they not pay us, but they force us to work day and night. The moment we stop, they beat us. They’ve already beaten two people to death!"

The other laborers began shouting out their own stories.

"When they came to our village to round people up, they saw my daughter was pretty and they assaulted her!"

"They came to take me, and when my parents tried to stop them, they broke their legs. I don’t even know if my parents are alive or dead now..." another cried out, sobbing.

"We haven’t had a single full meal since we got here. At mealtimes, they just give each of us a single steamed bun, and we have to eat while we keep working."

These laborers weren’t fools. They could see how much the Ye and Long families feared Ye Xiu, so they recounted every last one of their atrocities in detail.

This infuriated the members of the Ye and Long families. Once Ye Xiu leaves, we’ll kill all these low-life, talkative laborers.

"So the reality is even worse than what I saw," Ye Xiu said after stabilizing Liu Dakang’s condition. He stood up and declared coldly, "Those of you who beat them, those who bullied and abused their families, step forward now."

No one moved.

Ye Xiu walked up to the paralyzed Long Lin and slammed his palm down on the top of his head. With a spurt of blood, Long Lin died on the spot.

Seeing this, the faces of everyone from the Ye and Long families twisted in shock. They had thought Ye Xiu was merely toying with them, that he would never actually dare to kill them. They were stunned that he had killed Long Lin so decisively.

The laborers were terrified by Ye Xiu’s ruthlessness. In their world, murder was against the law. They never expected this young man to be even more vicious than their captors and to so utterly disregard the law. Still, seeing Long Lin killed brought them immense satisfaction, and it seemed that this Ye Xiu was on their side.

"You won’t step forward? Fine. I’ll just kill you one by one until none of you are left," Ye Xiu said coldly. He walked to another member of the Long family and killed him with another palm strike.

At this, Master Long screamed, "What the hell are you all standing around for? Step forward! Do you want to get us all killed?"

Ye Tianming also shouted in a panic, "Do you want your evil deeds to drag everyone down with you? You scum! You broke the law, now you have to face the consequences! Don’t drag us into this!"
