Chapter 158 The Prophet?
Chapter 158 The Prophet?
I never imagined that I would become someone's emperor so easily, but this emperorship is too inexplicable, isn't it?
It makes me extremely uneasy, like when you find a hundred-dollar coin on the street, you'd be very happy, and might even tell your friends that you were lucky to find money.
But if you suddenly have a million dollars in front of you, you won't dare to pick it up, because that amount of money is beyond your means, and you might not even live to spend it.
And this is exactly what's happening to me now. Suddenly a bunch of flies came and said I was a king. I didn't do anything, and I even disturbed someone's funeral. How did I become a king?
I was filled with doubt at the sight of this seemingly impossible thing. I just couldn't believe it. How could I have so easily fallen into the hands of a king?
But then again, even if I were made king, I wouldn't really want to be the king of a fly.
So whether it's real or fake, I don't really want to do it. The most important thing is to figure out what's going on.
Once I figure this out, I need to find Dafu and the others. What if the snake turns around and goes after Xue Tu and the others?
So I asked very cautiously and with great doubt, "What's going on? How come I'm the king inside?"
"Your Majesty, you are the savior we have foretold," the very old fly said cautiously.
"What's going on?" I asked, very curious.
"The prophet left a message, telling us that our Savior will descend from heaven to deliver him and then lead us to victory over evil," the old fly said very respectfully.
Holy crap, this is absolutely a coincidence. I just happened to fall from there. How could I possibly be your savior? I can't even save myself!
I was very frustrated looking at the flies in front of me. I just accidentally fell from above, and it really just happened that I landed here. I really didn't do anything, and there was nothing I could do.
You must have mistaken flies for flies, but I dare not say it. What if I say it and these flies get angry and kill me?
Such a huge army of flies has knelt before the wrong fly. Even for the sake of this humiliation, they won't let me go. I feel like I have no way out.
Let's deal with the immediate problem first, so I asked rather tactfully, "What kind of crisis have you encountered?"
The old fly was overjoyed to see that I was about to solve their problem, but instead of mentioning his own problem, he said, "The prophet told us that Your Majesty is facing a problem. Only after we help Your Majesty solve this problem will you wholeheartedly help us."
After hearing what the old fly said, I was instantly stunned. That's incredible! How could he guess that? How could he predict it? How did he do that?
I was utterly astonished. Aren't those prophets and wizards just feudal superstition? How can such feudal superstition still exist in the kingdom of flies?
Most importantly, the prophet seemed to know I was coming; he even guessed my identity, my origins, and that I would suffer.
How did they manage to do all this? With a history spanning five thousand years, who will solve this unsolved mystery first?
I almost cried. Being completely seen through and understood made me extremely uncomfortable. What is all this about?
"Your Majesty, Your Majesty," the old fly beside me called out very softly.
"Huh? Oh. What is it?" I finally snapped out of my reverie.
“Your Majesty, we can help you get things done now, and then you can come back to help us,” the old fly said again.
Although I don't know what kind of prophet this is, the fact that he has so many flies helping him means that finding Dao Dafu and Xue Tu shouldn't be a problem at all. The next thing to do is to get them out of here safely.
"Help me find a snow-white rabbit with a fat fly by it. Tell me when you find it, or guide them here to find me," I said to the old fly.
"Yes, Your Majesty," the old fly replied and left.
After he walked down, he said a few words to the four flies that seemed to be the captain. Then the four flies walked towards their own formation and took off in a spectacular fashion, just like a flight formation.
The lively scene just moments ago instantly became deserted. Even the four flies that had been holding me were gone, leaving only the old fly behind.
"How can you trust me so much? Aren't you afraid I'll send you away and run off on my own?" I asked, quite puzzled.
This is all so bizarre. How could I possibly trust a stranger like that? I really just fell down. What kind of prophecy is this?
Could it be a coincidence? You know, coincidences in this world are just that coincidental, so coincidental that you can hardly believe it, and you think it's fake.
So I felt this was definitely a coincidence, but the old fly didn't seem to care much. Instead, he said calmly, "Since we believe in the prophet, we will believe in you as much as we believe in the prophet. At least the fact that you haven't left yet proves that what the prophet said is correct."
Damn, he's such a stubborn old man. He just won't listen to anything I say. I really want to say that I'm not like that and that I want to leave right now, but I guess if I did, what else would that old man have to say in rebuttal?
For example, the prophet knows what you're going to say, so he does this and that.
"Then tell me what kind of help you need?" Since all I had to do now was wait for news, and I was bored anyway, I decided to find out what kind of help he needed.
"I can't say yet," the old fly refused to speak.
"Did the prophet say this too?" I asked curiously.
"Yes, the prophet had planned everything before he left, but he left in such a hurry." As he said this, tears welled up in the old fly's eyes.
This is on the verge of tears! And what's with crying after only a few words? This isn't some melodramatic soap opera.
"Please accept my condolences and don't be too sad," I comforted her.
“I know, the prophet said that to me, and he said you would say it too,” the old fly said, wiping away his tears.
Holy crap, what is there that a prophet doesn't know? Who exactly is this prophet? Does he really know, or is this old man just teasing me?
Just when I was feeling really down, a voice suddenly came from afar: "Found it."
