Chapter 12: The Beach of the Underworld
Chapter 12: The Beach of the Underworld
In King Mir's stronghold, there are more than a dozen sleeping positions.
The strength of the tranquilizer darts meant that it would probably take these Mir people a day to wake up.
Li Mengyao hid behind the solid throne, staring in shock at the battlefield not far away.
In her eyes, Chen Wang, the former backup boyfriend who had made her lose face at the dispatch center, now appeared like a devil on earth.
Moreover, his driving skills were exceptional; he could navigate through the smoke and still accurately knock King Mir away.
She was finally saved. She glanced at Xu Rui, who was still unconscious beside her, and her pounding heart finally calmed down a little.
On the battlefield, as the smoke gradually dissipated, Chen Wang, covered in blood, emerged from the fog.
After severely injuring King Mil, he heard the sound of the Beach traveling through the underworld.
This time, however, it was King Mil's desperate escape.
Chen Wang got on his motorcycle and quickly arrived beside Xu Rui.
He fed Xu Rui a cryptozoan into his mouth and had him swallow it with water, which finally made the latter's eyelids flutter.
He then knelt down in front of Li Mengyao and untied the ropes binding her.
Li Mengyao was somewhat at a loss, not understanding why Chen Wang had suddenly come over.
The person who took the order wasn't the comatose Xu Ruiyao.
"Thank you..." she said shyly, thankfully Chen Wang didn't ask her how she got kidnapped.
A few minutes later, Xu Rui opened his eyes. The baby in front of him had been poisoned due to prolonged neglect and was temporarily unusable.
She sat up weakly, unzipped her protective suit, and saw Chen Wang in front of her. Her pretty face flushed, and she turned around and took out an adrenaline vial from her inner pocket.
After the injection, my body finally regained its vitality.
Looking at the fallen Milos around her, she stared at Chen Wang in surprise: "You did this? A bronze-level special envoy?"
Chen Wang remained noncommittal. "Actually, I came to retrieve some materials, and it just so happened that I saved you."
Xu Rui thanked him repeatedly, saying that if it weren't for Chen Wang, he probably would have woken up in some desolate wilderness.
After knocking out the deliverymen, the Mir people would often transport them to a field several kilometers away and abandon them there.
"But what about King Mir's body?" she asked, looking around.
"I saw it," Li Mengyao said, raising one hand. "After Chen Wang hit him with his motorcycle, he disappeared immediately!"
The experienced Xu Rui quickly figured out the truth.
"Traversing the Beach... That King Mir must have fled to the Beach to hide. Damn it!"
She still feels lingering fear when she recalls what happened after King Mir took her to the Beach.
Although from Li Mengyao's perspective, the two quickly reappeared at the camp from a distance, the flow of time on the Beach is different from that in the real world.
Xu Rui's condition at that time also indicates that the two had fought for a long time in the beach.
"But you," Xu Rui said, looking at Li Mengyao with some anger, "know some shady Mil people, and you actually let them trick you into coming here?"
"I...I'm a victim too," Li Mengyao said, tears welling up in her eyes. "I'll never trust these savages again..."
As she spoke, she could no longer control herself and covered her face to cry, leaving Xu Rui speechless.
During this time, Chen Wang thoroughly searched the Mil people's camp and found three large barrels of special alloy, as well as a Mil king's privately owned revolver.
It was loaded with live ammunition; it was a deadly weapon.
Come to think of it, once they've become kings and rulers, they've naturally lost their pure identity as Mir people.
He carried a bucket of special alloy on his back, and then lifted another bucket in each hand, instantly showing that he was fully loaded.
Stepping out of the tent, I saw Li Mengyao crying and sobbing, and I already had a pretty good idea of what had happened.
He joked helplessly, "Crying? Crying counts as time too."
After exchanging nods with Xu Rui, he stuffed the special alloy barrel he was carrying into the Mil's large cargo box and mounted it on the motorcycle.
"It's a real shame we didn't arrest King Mil!" Xu Rui said. "If such a wild superhuman were handed over to the dispatch center, he would most likely receive commendation."
She felt sorry for Chen Wang.
With Chen Wang's abilities, he was no longer at the Bronze level, but failing to capture King Mir meant all his efforts were in vain; he had only accomplished a simple task of retrieving materials.
"You mean, there's a better option than eliminating these people on the spot?" Chen Wang's eyes lit up as he finished loading the goods.
"Yes," Xu Rui explained patiently, "It's like a bounty. Arresting the ringleaders who obstruct delivery work yields a much higher reward than a regular order."
Isn't this just like being a bounty hunter? It suits me quite well!
Chen Wang was overjoyed; this was undoubtedly an encouragement for his future delivery career.
Of course, even if Xu Rui hadn't said these things, he couldn't just let King Mil escape like that.
He leaned closer to Xu Rui and whispered his plan.
Although he already looked at Chen Wang with new respect, Xu Rui couldn't help but widen his eyes when Chen Wang revealed that he was a deportee.
She nodded, directed Li Mengyao to sit on the back of the motorcycle, and then drew her magnetic shock pistol, waiting in the wings.
"What are you doing...?" Li Mengyao asked, leaning on the bicycle seat in confusion.
Xu Rui gripped the trigger, keeping the magnetic pistol fully charged: "Be prepared, don't be surprised if King Mir suddenly appears!"
"Again? Won't he get tired?" As she spoke, Li Mengyao had already gripped the cargo box in the car tightly.
If he actually appeared in front of her, she would smash the crate into King Mil's face!
Chen Wangze took out the revolver he had just confiscated and deliberately found a corner where neither of the two girls could see him.
A shot pierced his temple.
"Ah!" From afar came Li Mengyao's shocked scream.
……
The beach, a rocky shore. The water is calm, and all is silent.
King Mir sat there, holding the broken pendant in his hand.
This piece of equipment, which had been with him for several years, finally could not withstand its owner's final push to the limit during the Beach crossing.
I never imagined that Chen Wang would push me to this point.
The pendant in her hand was originally meant to enhance her Dumus physique, but now it's cracked. How long will it take for her to recover before she can travel again on her own?
One month? Or a year?
What's most unique about the Beach is the absence of hunger and fatigue.
This means he must keep his eyes open and face this despairing loneliness.
"It's better than death," King Mir consoled himself with a bitter smile. "I have to live, so I can see my son again."
He looked up again at the sky above the beach, at the unchanging gray-white clouds.
What is that?
He clearly saw a man descending from the sky!
Like a cannonball, it plummeted straight into the sea.
The calm water surface suddenly burst into a spray of water.
King Mir stood frozen in place, bewildered by what had happened; he had never encountered anything like this on the Beach before.
Just then, a man with wet hair calmly walked out of the sea.
Chen Wang!
King Mil was dumbfounded, not because Chen Wang was naked, but because he couldn't understand how he could have come to the Beach of the Underworld.
King Mil knew very well that this was neither the way of crossing the Beach nor the way of passing through here after death.
Just as he was thinking this, Chen Wang had already walked up to him.
"Who exactly are you...?"
Before King Mir could finish speaking, Chen Wang's heavy punch landed on his face.
In slow motion, you can also see his exaggerated facial expressions and the teeth that fly off.
