Chapter 41 Apology Letter
Chapter 41 Apology Letter
The corridor was quiet.
Lin Yue lowered her head, her voice muffled.
"Song Huan... I'm sorry... I made you get scolded."
Song Huan glanced at her. "It's just a few words of scolding, it's not like I'm going to lose a piece of my flesh."
Lin Yue looked up at the injury on his face, and her eyes reddened again.
"But your face..."
Song Huan took a piece of paper out of his pocket and handed it to her.
"Don't cry, let me wipe it."
Lin Yue took it and held it tightly in her hand.
Song Huan looked at her and spoke.
"Next time something like this happens, remember to shout louder, don't just stand there and let yourself get beaten up."
Lin Yue's tears flowed even more fiercely.
But she nodded vigorously.
Song Huan then said, "I've finished sweeping the floor, let's go home early."
After saying that, he turned and walked towards the classroom.
He slung his backpack over his shoulder and took one last look at Lin Yue in the hallway.
"A person must take good care of themselves."
Song Huan paused, as if speaking on behalf of her past self, and then left without looking back.
Lin Yue stood in the corridor, a cool evening breeze blowing by.
She clutched the piece of paper.
Nose is sour.
Cried.
……
As Song Huan walked forward with her bag on her back, some images suddenly flashed through her mind.
In the cramped rented room, Lin Yue, wearing an old apron, clumsily cooked noodles for him.
"Happy birthday, Song Huan!" She placed a bowl of burnt noodles in front of him, with a candle stuck in it. "Make a wish, make a wish!"
Looking at the bowl of dark, murky noodles, Song Huan was both amused and exasperated: "Is this even edible?"
"Why can't you eat it! I cooked it for ages! Even if it failed, you still have to eat it!" Lin Yue said, hands on her hips. "Make a wish now! I'll get angry if you don't!"
Song Huan had no choice but to close her eyes.
But as soon as he closed his mouth, Lin Yue spoke.
"Birthday wish...hehe, I'll make it for you first! That is to save up money and marry me as soon as possible!"
She said with a smile, her eyes shining.
Song Huan reluctantly opened her eyes and looked at her.
At that time, her eyes were full of light.
The scene changes.
hospital.
Lin Yue sat by his hospital bed, her eyes red and swollen, her voice hoarse.
"Song Huan, you big idiot, why did you have to work yourself to the point of developing a heart condition?"
She held his hand tightly.
"Even if we can't afford to buy a house, I'd be willing to squeeze into a rented apartment with you..."
Tears fell drop by drop onto the back of his hand.
"Did you hear me? I'm willing..."
……
the next morning.
Song Huan stood in front of the mirror, looking at her face.
I took a few punches during the fight yesterday, but there were no obvious wounds on my face, so my parents didn't notice or ask about it.
He breathed a sigh of relief, washed his face, and went out.
Xiao Yunqing was already downstairs.
She stood there, carrying her schoolbag, her ponytail tied high.
When she saw him come out, she turned around.
Afraid that she would notice, Song Huan lowered her head and walked over.
"Let's go."
He walked ahead, quite quickly.
Xiao Yunqing followed behind.
After walking for a while, she suddenly spoke.
"Song Huan".
Song Huan didn't turn around.
"Um?"
What happened to your face?
Song Huan paused for a moment.
[Seriously? How could you tell?]
"Nothing much."
Xiao Yunqing caught up with him and walked to his side.
Stare at his face.
Song Huan turned her head away, avoiding her gaze.
Xiao Yunqing frowned.
She chased after him and stared at him intently.
Song Huan couldn't dodge, so she had no choice but to stand still.
Xiao Yunqing stared at the injury on his face for several seconds.
Then she spoke, her voice a little cold.
"Who hit him?"
Song Huan opened her mouth.
"Nobody else, I fell down on my own."
Xiao Yunqing stared at him.
That look in her eyes was exactly the same as Zhang Xuejuan's.
Song Huan felt uneasy under her gaze.
Xiao Yunqing suddenly reached out and gently touched the wound on the corner of his mouth.
Song Huan gasped in pain.
Xiao Yunqing's hand trembled slightly, and she withdrew it.
Then her eyes reddened.
"Does it hurt?"
Looking at her like that, Song Huan felt a little guilty.
"It doesn't hurt."
Xiao Yunqing glared at him.
"That's a lie."
Song Huan didn't say anything.
Xiao Yunqing stared at him and took a deep breath.
"What happened? Did your aunt and uncle mistreat you?"
Song Huan remained silent for a few seconds, then finally sighed.
Then he spoke and recounted what had happened.
From his after-school cleaning duty to going to the toilet, to seeing Lin Yue being bullied, to the fight.
After listening, Xiao Yunqing remained silent for a long time.
Then she suddenly turned around and left.
They walked very fast.
Song Huan paused for a second, then chased after him.
"Xiao Yunqing!"
She didn't stop.
Song Huan caught up with her.
Her face was stern, her eyes were red, and she didn't say a word.
Song Huan heard her inner thoughts.
[Three against one...who does he think he is?]
[What if he gets even more seriously injured? Doesn't he think about himself?]
[That Lin Yue... what kind of person is she that he'd do this to?]
Song Huan whispered, "I can't just stand by and watch the girls in my class get bullied..."
Xiao Yunqing suddenly stopped in her tracks.
She turned her head and glared at him.
"You still have the nerve to talk back?"
Song Huan shut up.
Xiao Yunqing glared at him for a few seconds.
Then she continued walking, and after a while, she spoke again, "Does it still hurt?"
Song Huan shook her head.
"It doesn't hurt anymore."
Xiao Yunqing snorted.
"Serves you right."
But I slowed down my pace a little.
When they arrived at school, Xiao Yunqing's face was still stern.
Once inside the classroom, she sat down and put her schoolbag on the desk.
Then she saw Lin Yue.
Lin Yue sat in the back, her head down.
Hearing the noise, she looked up.
Her eyes lit up when she saw Song Huan.
Then, seeing the injury on his face, the light dimmed again.
She stood up and walked over.
"Song Huan..."
Xiao Yunqing sat there, her face growing even colder.
Lin Yue stood in front of Song Huan, head bowed, "I'm sorry...it's all because of me..."
Song Huan waved her hand.
"fine."
Lin Yue looked up at him.
Eyes are red.
She took a few sheets of paper out of her pocket and handed them over.
"This is... a letter of self-criticism."
Song Huan was stunned for a moment.
Lin Yue continued, "I've already written the five hundred words for you."
Song Huan took it and looked at it.
The characters are densely packed and written neatly.
He looked up at Lin Yue.
Lin Yue lowered her head, not daring to look at him.
Just as Song Huan was about to say something, a cold voice came from the side.
"snort."
Xiao Yunqing sat there, staring at Lin Yue.
That look in his eyes was so cold it could freeze you to death.
Lin Yue sensed it, looked up, and glanced at her.
Then he lowered his head again.
She whispered, "I'm so sorry... I'll find a way to make it up to you..."
Xiao Yunqing remained silent.
He just stared at her.
Song Huan stood in the middle, her scalp tingling.
He heard Xiao Yunqing's inner thoughts.
The beatings he suffered cannot be erased with a few apologies.
[However... the fact that they came specifically to deliver a letter of apology means they're at least not heartless.]
Song Huan quickly said, "Alright, alright, I'll accept the letter of apology. Thank you."
Lin Yue nodded and turned back to her seat.
Xiao Yunqing sat there, her face still cold.
But she didn't say anything more.
He simply pulled a bottle of milk out of his schoolbag.
It was placed on Song Huan's desk.
"drink."
Song Huan looked at the bottle of milk, then at her.
Xiao Yunqing stared at the blackboard, not looking at him.
But Song Huan heard her inner thoughts.
[Next time you want to play the hero, remember to call me. Two people getting beaten is better than one.]
"puff!"
Song Huan had just unscrewed the cap and taken a sip when she heard this and almost spat it out.
