Chapter 1095: Breaking the Window Paper
Chapter 1095: Breaking the Window Paper
In October 2013, the weather in Los Angeles began to cool down.
When Maowa came out of the lab, it was already past nine o'clock at night. The temperature difference between day and night in Southern California is ridiculously large. You can wear short sleeves at noon, but you need to wear a thick coat to keep warm.
He put his hat on, zipped up his jacket, found his bicycle, and after he got on, he suddenly remembered something. He took out his phone from his pocket and glanced at it.
Sure enough, Su Jin had messaged him earlier: "I made myself a bowl of noodles tonight, would you like to try some?"
He chuckled as he quickly replied to a message on his phone: "Okay, I'm actually hungry."
Su Jin replied almost instantly: "Then come to my place, eat here, and then go back."
Maowa smiled knowingly. Over the past few months, he and Su Jin had eaten together, gone shopping together, and gone to the library together. James and the others had long assumed that the two of them were a couple. Only the two of them hadn't yet broken the ice. The ice was what his sister Miguo called it, which was a very apt description.
He replied, "I'll be there in fifteen minutes."
I put on my headphones, and an old song was playing. I rubbed my hands together and set off.
A dozen minutes later, he arrived at Su Jin's apartment building. After arranging his bicycle, he didn't rush upstairs. He was thinking about how to start the conversation, what to say, and how to say it. He made up his mind to break the ice tonight.
I've wanted to do this for a long time, but every time I get to the point, I just don't know what to say.
She knocked on the door, and it opened quickly. Su Jin stood inside and said, "Welcome! Come in quickly, the noodles are already cooking."
"I'll do it!" Maowa said, intending to take over the task of cooking noodles.
Su Jin waved her hand: "No need, you can just sit and wait."
Maowa had no choice but to sit at the table and wait. After a while, Su Jin brought over a bowl of noodles.
"Try it and see if it's authentic."
This is a bowl of plain noodles that people in Shanghai often eat. In Shanghai, this bowl of noodles is nothing special, but in Los Angeles, it's a rare treat, mainly due to the quality of the ingredients.
The aroma of the plain noodles made Maowa, who was already starving, choke. Without any formalities with Su Jin, he took the chopsticks and began to eat heartily.
Su Jin sat opposite him, resting her chin on her hands and looking at him: "Is it delicious?"
The little boy's mouth was full of noodles, so he couldn't speak, and could only nod repeatedly, saying, "Mmm-hmm!"
After swallowing the noodles, he gave a thumbs up and said, "Amazing! I haven't had such delicious plain noodles in a long time."
Su Jin's eyes curved into crescent moons: "Really? You're not kidding me."
"Why are you trying to fool me?" Maowa took another big bite. "It's so delicious!"
"Then eat more, I'll cook more for you if you're still hungry."
Upon hearing this, Maowa suddenly put down his chopsticks.
Su Jin asked, puzzled, "What's wrong? Why aren't you eating?"
Maowa called out Su Jin's name: "Su Jin!"
"Um?"
"I want to tell you something."
Seeing Maowa's serious expression, Su Jin mistakenly thought something had happened to him and immediately became nervous.
"What happened? Is there a problem with the experiment, or with your paper?"
Maowa shook his head, looked at her, and slowly said, "I've been so happy since I met you. I never imagined I could have such a life all alone abroad."
Su Jin sensed something, her face immediately turned red, and her heart began to beat faster.

Mao Wa continued, "Actually, James and the others have long considered you my girlfriend, but I'm too shy to confess to you."
Su Jin looked at Maowa, her eyes slightly red: "You've finally told me."
Maowa paused for a moment, then said, "You..."
Su Jin smiled and playfully scolded, "Foolish girl, of course I'm willing."
Mao Wa laughed, looking like a complete idiot.
Su Jin suddenly urged, "Stop laughing and hurry up and eat your noodles, they're all soggy."
Maowa then continued eating his noodles, but the smile on his face never faded.
After Maowa finished eating, Su Jin went to clear the dishes and asked, "How are we going to tell our family about this?"
Mao Wa thought for a moment and said, "My dad won't object. He also hopes I can find a girlfriend soon. My aunt is just like my dad; she won't object to my relationship."
"And what about your mother?"
The room fell silent instantly.
Su Jin, who was washing dishes, sensed something was wrong. She turned around and glanced at Maowa, noticing his complicated expression and the way he seemed to want to say something but hesitated.
"What's wrong?"
Maowa's voice was calm: "You know, my parents divorced when I was little, my mom..."
After a pause, Maowa mustered up his courage again and said to Su Jin, "My mom made a mistake and is still serving her sentence. She'll be out at the end of the year. I was in junior high school when she went in, and I haven't seen her for many years. To be honest, I don't know if she's still the same person I remember from many years ago, or what she looks like now. I also don't know how I'll face her after she gets out."
Su Jin was stunned.
She didn't know much about Maowa's family situation, but overall, she had a good impression of them. She never expected there to be such a story behind it.
Maowa looked at her and smiled bitterly: "Is this surprising? If you feel uncomfortable, you don't have to force yourself. We can still be friends."
Su Jin snapped out of her daze, shook her head, and hugged Maowa tightly.
"Thank you for telling me these things. It shows you don't consider me an outsider. You can tell me anything in the future. Don't forget, I'm your girlfriend."
Maowa's body stiffened. It was the first time he had been hugged by a girl like this, and so tightly. He could even feel her body temperature and smell the feminine scent emanating from her, which smelled wonderful.
He slowly relaxed and reached out to pull Su Jin into his arms.
This was the first real hug they had ever shared.
The two stood there quietly, embracing each other, neither of them saying a word.
Finally, Su Jin took the initiative to break the silence: "Tell me if anything happens in the future, just don't hide it from me. I'm serious, we'll share the good and the bad together."
Maowa smiled with relief, feeling especially happy at that moment. He nodded and said, "I will."
But he still had some concerns: "If your parents knew about my mother, would they object to us being together?"
Su Jin was taken aback for a moment, but she immediately said, "I'll handle things with my parents. Don't worry, as I just said, we'll share the good and the bad together."
"good!"
After the two confirmed their relationship, the first people to find out were naturally Maowa's friends.
James exaggeratedly clutched his chest: "I knew it! I knew it! Huang, you finally admitted it."
Park Sung-ho and Han Woo pretended to be serious as they teased a couple.
