Chapter 1079: Meeting and Testing
Chapter 1079: Meeting and Testing
After returning to Shanghai from Suzhou, life seemed to return to its former tranquility.
Maowa hasn't finished his studies in the United States yet, and he only came back for special reasons, so he won't be staying for more than a few days. However, he still remembers his promise to Miguo and plans to meet with Miguo's boyfriend in the next few days.
Huang Erhe and Cheng Jing shared the same idea, so when Huang Erhe told Maowa about it, the father and son were of one mind, which made Huang Erhe and Cheng Jing feel quite gratified.
I'm glad that Maowa knows how to care for his younger sister and how to help them share some of their family responsibilities.
Two days before Maowa's departure, on a Saturday, Miguo took Jifeng to a coffee shop on Huaihai Road.
Along the way, Ji Feng was a little puzzled. His girlfriend suddenly said she wanted to take him to meet someone. When he asked who it was, Mi Guo refused to tell him, only saying that he would know when they met.
But Ji Feng seemed to have a premonition, guessing that the person he was meeting might be Mi Guo's family, not necessarily her parents, but who could it be? Ji Feng was also eager to find out the answer.
He carefully straightened his clothes. Fortunately, he was dressed reasonably well today. He wore a light blue shirt over a wool vest, jeans, and sneakers, looking neat and tidy.
When they arrived at the coffee shop, Maowa was already inside, sitting by the window, looking at his phone and drinking an iced Americano.
Ji Feng hesitated for a moment, then Mi Guo rolled her eyes at him before taking his arm and walking toward Mao Wa.
"Brother!" Migo greeted Maowa from a distance.
When Maowa saw Miguo walking towards them arm in arm with a handsome boy, he stood up and greeted him.
"Over here!"
After the two approached, Miguo introduced her boyfriend to Maowa: "Brother, this is my boyfriend, Ji Feng."
"This is my brother, Huang Zedi!"
Maowa carefully examined the person in front of him, who was of average height, about 1.75 meters tall. He was fair-skinned, not wearing glasses, and looked very refined. His face was slightly red, indicating that he was a little nervous since it was their first meeting.
Maowa pointed to the seat opposite him: "Sit down!"
Ji Feng was still a little reserved. After sitting down, he didn't know where to put his hands, and finally placed them on his knees.
Maowa asked, "What would you like to drink?"
"Oh, just like you is fine."
Maowa waved to the waiter and ordered a cappuccino for Miguo and an iced Americano for Jifeng.
Miguo sat next to Ji Feng, glancing at Maowa and then at her boyfriend. She could clearly sense that Ji Feng was a little nervous, so she quietly took his hand to encourage him.
Maowa watched this scene without leaving a trace, and he chuckled to himself.
After the coffee arrived, Maowa cut to the chase: "Ji Feng, right? My sister has been talking about you a lot, saying you're in the same year. What are you studying?"
"Chinese Language and Literature," Ji Feng answered honestly.
"Oh!" Maowa nodded, then asked, "Where are you from?"
"From Wuzhou, Zhejiang Province." Ji Feng then added, "Our small commodity market is very famous."
Maowa smiled: "I know!"
Ji Feng was a little embarrassed and chuckled.
How many people are in your family?
"There are four of us. I also have a younger sister who is in her first year of high school this year."
What do your parents do?
"My dad runs a zipper and button factory in our hometown, and my mom helps manage it. It's not a big factory; there are currently more than two hundred workers."
As Mao Wa asked the questions, he observed Ji Feng's expression. The kid seemed a bit nervous, but he answered the questions very honestly, without any hint of showing off. He seemed like a pretty genuine person.
To ease his tension, Ji Feng picked up his coffee and took a sip, but he drank it too quickly and choked, coughing for a long time until his face turned red.
Migo, standing to the side, was both annoyed and distressed, and whispered comfortingly, "Drink it slowly!"
Maowa witnessed all of this. You can read the latest updated chapters of "1990, I'm Back" without any issues on the "Renren Bookstore" APP, with over one million books available for free. Visit the APP's official website to access more information.
After Ji Feng calmed down, Maowa continued to ask, "How did you and my sister meet?"
Ji Feng glanced at Mi Guo, his face full of sweetness: "Shortly after the start of freshman year, we joined the same club, the reading club. I accidentally discovered that she liked the novel 'One Hundred Years of Solitude,' which I also happened to like, so we started chatting and gradually became familiar with each other."
Maowa asked with a half-smile, "You made your move after you were familiar with the meat?"
Ji Feng was startled by this sudden change of expression and didn't know how to react.
But he quickly calmed himself down and mustered his courage to say, "I feel that Migo and I have a lot in common, and she has many good qualities. I think I would regret it for the rest of my life if I missed out on her."
"This kid's alright," Maowa thought, giving Ji Feng a good evaluation.
He then asked, "Do you know what our family's situation is?"
This question stunned Ji Feng. He looked at Mi Guo beside him, then at Mao Wa, and shook his head.
Maowa looked at Ji Feng and thought that the kid was actually quite honest.
He then asked, "In that case, what are your plans for the future?"
Ji Feng thought for a moment and said, "Of course I'll finish university first. I plan to take the postgraduate entrance exam and apply to Shanghai University or East China Normal University. I want to stay in Shanghai in the future because Miguo is here, and I want to stay too."
Hearing this, Maowa asked calmly, "Will your parents agree? Didn't you just say that you're their only son, and that they have a business? Do you think your parents would agree to you staying in Shanghai?"
Ji Feng was stumped by the question. He paused for a moment, thought carefully, and then said seriously, "I will handle this. I think my parents will respect my opinion. After all, parents all want their children to live well."
Maowa looked at him without saying a word.
Ji Feng added, "I know it might be a bit too early for me to say these things now, but my feelings for Mi Guo are truly genuine."
"Brother!" Migo looked at Maowa with pleading eyes.
But Maowa came today carrying his parents' instructions, so he ignored Miguo's pleading gaze and continued to ask Ji Feng, "What will you do if one day you find that our family's situation is different from what you imagined?"
Ji Feng was stunned; he didn't understand what those words meant.
Migo, however, understood the meaning behind those words. She looked at Ji Feng nervously, hoping to hear the answer she wanted to hear.
Fortunately, Ji Feng did not disappoint her.
After considering for a while, Ji Feng said very seriously, "I like Mi Guo as a person. As for what her family is like or what her situation is, it will not affect my liking for Mi Guo."
Maowa stared at Ji Feng for a long time, making Ji Feng somewhat at a loss. Finally, Maowa laughed.
His smile relieved both Ji Feng and Mi Guo.
"Okay, I understand. Ji Feng, you need to know that this is my sister. We grew up together, and I definitely have to take care of her affairs."
Ji Feng quickly nodded: "Of course. If my sister has a boyfriend in the future, I will care about it just like you do, brother."
Maowa said, "I've remembered what you just said. If you ever dare to treat Miguo badly in the future, you might not be able to bear the consequences."
Ji Feng nodded solemnly: "Don't worry, I won't."
Maowa stood up: "Alright then, that's enough for today!"
At the entrance of the coffee shop, while Ji Feng went to pay the bill, Mao Wa asked Mi Guo, "He doesn't know I'm studying abroad, does he?"
Migo rolled her eyes at Maowa: "Before this, he didn't even know you were his brother."
Upon hearing this, Maowa showed no displeasure whatsoever; instead, he laughed.
