Chapter 105 Rain
Chapter 105 Rain
Six days before Yun Ruoyu's birthday banquet, a torrential downpour began.
Yue Feng and Wu Shuangxue set off from the Xie family early in the morning, heading to Shuiyue Villa on Shuiyue Mountain.
To avoid arousing suspicion from the Xie family, Yue Feng selected a group of capable followers from among Wei Yuanlao's men to form his core group as the new head of the manor. He would later examine and screen these individuals, ultimately keeping only those truly capable of serving him.
The Six Doors had been guarding Shuiyue Mountain all night, and apart from capturing a few spies from other forces, nothing unexpected happened.
Thanks to Wu Shuangxue's presence, the handover was completed smoothly. Yue Feng officially became the owner of Shuiyue Manor, while Wu Shuangxue, as the second owner, assisted in managing all affairs within the manor.
The two worked tirelessly until the afternoon, not even having time to eat, before finally getting everything in order at Shuiyue Manor. As for Anji Ward under the manor's name, they hadn't had a chance to consider it yet. Just as they were about to eat something before discussing it further, a servant came to report that Sun Jingyi, the owner of Tianshou Ward, requested an audience.
Yue Feng gave a light snort: "This guy's heart meridian was injured, and he won't be alive for long. Instead of finding a place to eke out a living, he dares to come to my door to ask for an audience."
Wu Shuangxue said, "Of the owners of Anjifang under the manor's name, he is the only one still alive. If we can get his help, things will be much easier."
Wu Shuangxue's words were exactly what Yue Feng was thinking, so he nodded and had the servants bring Sun Jingyi over.
After losing his arm, Sun Jingyi lost too much blood. Although he survived, his face was as white as a corpse. He bowed deeply to Yue Feng and Wu Shuangxue.
"Young Master Feng, Commander Wu, I know you are both very busy, so I will speak frankly: please entrust Anjifang under the Shuiyue Manor to me for management. Although I do not have much time left, I will certainly be able to reorganize Anjifang into the way you want it within the limited time available."
Yue Feng asked softly, "Why should I believe you, someone who's an accomplice to evil?"
Sun Jingyi said, "Young Master Feng can send someone to keep an eye on me. I've already lost an arm, and most of my martial arts skills are gone. Young Master Feng should have plenty of people under his command who can keep an eye on me."
Yue Feng said, "That's not what I want to hear."
Sun Jingyi hesitated for a moment before saying, "I... want to do something for those elderly people. I was powerless before, and I am powerless now. It's just that the sky above me has changed. So I want to ask the heavens if they can give me one last chance."
"I don't seek atonement; my sins are beyond redemption even by a hundred deaths. I just want to do something for those elderly people. That way, when I die, I can have some peace of mind."
Yue Feng stared intently at Sun Jingyi for a long time, as if trying to see directly into his heart through his eyes.
"Your wish is a bit excessive, but you are indeed somewhat useful to me. I will send someone to follow you. Go."
The weariness on Sun Jingyi's face vanished, and he seemed ten years younger. He solemnly thanked Yue Feng and Wu Shuangxue, and was about to leave when Yue Feng added, "Oh, by the way, hurry up and train some talented people for me. I don't want Anjifang to be without a leader after you die."
Sun Jingyi said, "Young Master Feng, don't worry, this is also part of my job."
"Okay, go ahead."
"Yes. I'll take my leave."
After Sun Jingyi left, Yue Feng and Wu Shuangxue ate something and finally had some free time. The two sat by the window watching the rain, sipping tea and chatting about strange tales and anecdotes from the martial arts world. The charcoal in the brazier burned brightly, and although the rain outside was getting heavier, the room was getting warmer and warmer.
The warmth slowly seeped into their hearts from inside the house, gradually building up within them. Amidst the patter of rain, melodious chirping suddenly began to fill the air.
The warbling continued for about half an hour. Wu Shuangxue lay limp on the bed like a lump of mud, and said to Yue Feng, who was sitting by the bed getting dressed:
Why are you always like this? Can't you be a little faster?
Yue Feng leaned closer, and Wu Shuangxue pouted, letting him kiss her. Yue Feng laughed, "If I were really close, you'd complain about me again. Humph, you women are so hard to please."
Wu Shuangxue said, "Knowing that women are hard to please, why do you still find so many women? It's only because you're young and strong now. Let's see how you explain yourself when you get middle-aged."
Yue Feng laughed and said, "Are you worried that I won't be able to finish what I'm looking for, or are you worried that you won't have enough to eat? Don't worry, I'll make sure you eat your fill."
Wu Shuangxue wanted to retort, but suddenly seemed to realize something, her face flushed, and she couldn't utter a single word in response. Deep down, she even felt that, given Yue Feng's abilities, having a few people help her share the burden wasn't entirely out of the question.
She lay in bed for a while longer, finally regaining some strength, before getting up and dressing. Yue Feng sat by the window, having been reading for quite some time.
Wu Shuangxue asked, "What do you think of Xie Hongde's martial arts skills?"
Yue Feng put down his book and shook his head: "He's unfathomable. With my current skill level, I'd be lucky to escape from him."
Wu Shuangxue said, "But we will eventually face him one day."
Yue Feng hummed in agreement and fell into deep thought. He reviewed the martial arts he knew. The most advanced was undoubtedly the Nameless Sword Technique of the Three Fusions, but the most lethal was the Meteor Flying Strike, which he had only recently learned.
This is because the Meteor Strike technique concentrates all power into a single burst, naturally resulting in greater destructive force. In contrast, the Nameless Sword Technique is more balanced. However, neither the Meteor Strike nor the Nameless Sword Technique can help Yue Feng break through to a higher level.
Yue Feng couldn't help but think back to the nameless old Taoist he had encountered on Mount Wudang. How had he reached that level? Was it because he had practiced some kind of martial art? Or had he taken some kind of elixir?
Among all the people Yue Feng could contact, no one could answer his question, including Feng Qingyang. But he still told Wu Shuangxue his question in detail, not for any other reason than to clarify his thoughts.
Wu Shuangxue's martial arts level was not high enough, and she only vaguely understood what she was saying. She casually replied:
"Why don't you ask Yun Ruoyu? A sect like the Heavenly Sword Sect must have many unknown secrets. Yun Ruoyu is the sect leader and has a good impression of you. You might find something interesting if you ask her."
Yue Feng thought about it and realized it was indeed a good idea. Seeing that it was getting late, he and Wu Shuangxue went to rest.
The next morning, Yue Feng returned to his original appearance and changed his clothes. He carefully stored away the newly acquired Qingfeng Sword, but tucked the jade flute that Xiong Zhaozhao had given him into his belt.
Seeing his expression, Wu Shuangxue felt both jealous and regretful, realizing that she shouldn't have personally sent Yue Feng into the spider cave of the Heavenly Sword Sect.
However, it was too late for regrets. Wu Shuangxue had no choice but to reluctantly tell Yue Feng the location of the Heavenly Sword Sect. Yue Feng gave Wu Shuangxue a few instructions and then went down the mountain.
