Chapter 111 Departure from Kongsang Mountain
Chapter 111 Departure from Kongsang Mountain
Under the morning sunlight, the Kuafu people on the mountain peak were cultivating again. Their golden figures were no less impressive than the towering mountain, causing passing merchants to bow down in worship once more.
In front of the tent hall, the Kuafu tribe was holding a trial initiation ceremony. The square was full of tall figures, dressed in thin clothes. Although the surrounding area was covered with ice and snow, it felt like the heat of summer.
The black-robed priest Jiuyu lit a torch in front of the hall. The raging flames rose up, and the deep purple flames looked like a giant dragon that wanted to devour people, but it was trapped in a small space and could not break free.
Ning Xiaoxi rode a reindeer, and among the tall figures, she was completely inconspicuous.
Tianji stood on the steps in front of the main hall. He was not wearing his usual Tiangang robes, but a white long robe. His hair was neatly combed and held up with a white jade crown, giving him a somewhat ethereal and otherworldly appearance.
Ning Xiaoxi raised her eyebrows slightly. Wow, this handsome older man is quite eye-catching.
As the flames rose, Kuiwei Guardian and two other Kuafu tribesmen walked up to Jiuyu, bowed, and received Jiuyu's blessing.
It seems that the Nine Realms hold a rather high position among the Kuafu tribe, but how exactly does it manage to blend in among the humans without being discovered? She subconsciously touched her left wrist; the Soul Trace's concealment was gone. Yet Tianji said he didn't sense any demonic energy on her. Was it because she absorbed the power of those three Heavenly Pools? What exactly are those things in her cave now?
The spirit of Kuiwei Mountain stood beside Ning Xiaoxi, sensing her absent-mindedness. Ever since this young girl arrived in the clan's territory, she had been causing a series of strange phenomena: the unprovoked attack on the Three Mulberry Trees and the changes at the Heavenly Pool on Dragon Marquis Mountain. It seemed she didn't possess the power to cause these events, yet they certainly occurred after her arrival and contact with the clan. Now, Tianji had come to the Kuafu clan, preventing them from further investigating the cause of the Heavenly Pool's changes. It seemed they could only wait for news from Kuiwei's guardian.
"Xiao Xi, this is a clan ceremony, it will be over soon."
Ning Xiaoxi glanced at the spirit of Kuiwei Mountain apologetically, "It's nothing, I'm just not used to it."
"Don't worry, with Lord Jiuyu leading the team this time, they will definitely help you find the Snow Maiden's Heart."
Ning Xiaoxi looked grateful. "I didn't expect my sister's people to be so kind. I'm already very grateful that they were willing to help a lowly subordinate like me, but they even went so far as to ask the Nine Domains Priest to help. Our adults said they must thank the Priest properly!" She tried to shift the blame onto Tianji, but her small body couldn't bear such a heavy burden of gratitude.
The lengthy ceremony finally came to an end.
Led by Jiuyu, Ning Xiaoxi rode a reindeer, following behind Kuiwei Shouyu, with the other two Kuafu tribesmen, Kuiwei Chi and Kuiwei Yuan, beside her, as they stepped out of the Kuafu tribe's territory.
This time, however, their goal was very clear: to head straight for Kongsang Mountain without consulting Ning Xiaoxi.
He glanced at the nonchalant Kuiwei Guardian running beside him. "Do you all travel by running?"
"Running in the morning sunlight can better activate the true fire of the sun within the body."
So you were cultivating while running? But weren't you cultivating the Taiyin Technique?
Looking at the leader of the Nine Domains ahead, Ning Xiaoxi felt that his black robe was truly aptly named, exuding a sinister aura. The other two were different; as they ran, waves of heat surged from their bodies, and a faint blush rose on their skin, as if their blood had been ignited.
Is the difference between the cold and the hot feeling the difference between the Yin and Yang techniques?
As Ning Xiaoxi was lost in thought, the reindeer beneath her began to fall behind.
After giving her a cryptic smile, Kuiwei Shouyu maintained his speed and overtook Ning Xiaoxi.
What does that mean? Ning Xiaoxi stared blankly at the figures running further and further away. Four-legged creatures can't outrun two-legged creatures, right? Or should she break away from the group? She never wanted to hang out with them in the first place. If it weren't for that fool Kuiwei Shanyue, she wouldn't have ended up as a tagalong.
Thinking this, she loosened the reindeer's lasso again and again, and the reindeer slowed down.
Just as the figures ahead were about to disappear from sight, a gentle breeze suddenly blew by, and the reindeer's feet seemed to fly, its speed suddenly increasing. Before Ning Xiaoxi could even activate her defensive shield, it quickly caught up with the group ahead.
Kuiwei Shouyu watched as Ning Xiaoxi, hiding inside the defensive barrier, haphazardly combed her hair, which was blowing wildly in the wind, and couldn't help but laugh again.
Ning Xiaoxi glared at Kuiwei Shouyu with annoyance. Seeing Jiuyu retract his finger, she knew he wouldn't let her off so easily. Anyway, she hadn't had to exert any effort. Although the reindeer had wide eyes, its legs were on the wind, so it saved her some energy.
As night fell, she finally reached the edge of the rolling mountain range. Looking out, all she could see were snow-capped peaks; she could no longer distinguish which one was Mount Kongsang. She channeled her spiritual energy into the snowflakes, and the direction it pointed to was clear: it was just ahead.
The group each took out a tent large enough for one person to rest in and set it up. Ning Xiaoxi also obediently climbed down and took out her own tent to set it up.
The four of them turned around to look at Ning Xiaoxi's actions.
Kuiwei asked, "So Xiaoxi also has a space talisman. I was thinking of setting up a tent for Xiaoxi, but it seems we don't need it anymore."
Ning Xiaoxi paused for a moment. Shouldn't she have said this sooner? "Hehe, my family saw how hard I was working and came to help me out."
"Lord Tianji really cares about his subordinates, even giving away such a valuable spatial talisman."
"Hehe, I'm young, so I'm taking advantage of you." What an awkward topic. Can we please stop talking about it? We can't afford to add any more secrets to this, or it'll all fall apart.
As if hearing Ning Xiaoxi's thoughts, Kuiwei Shouyu stopped talking, quickly set up the tent, and then swiftly took out an axe to start chopping down trees. The tall figures of Kuiwei Chi and Kuiwei Yuan disappeared into the distance.
After setting up the tent, Jiuyu sat on a tree root and remained motionless.
Ning Xiaoxi obediently collected some branches cut down by Kuiwei Guardian, cleared a space, took out a tinderbox and lit the branches. Just as the thick smoke was about to drift towards the Nine Domains, the Nine Domains' fingers twitched slightly, and the smoke instantly disappeared, flames rose up, and the branches crackled and popped as they burned.
Ning Xiaoxi chuckled and went to get the firewood that Kuiwei had chopped, adding it to the fire. Then she took out an earthenware pot and a water bag from the cave and started boiling water.
Kuiweichi and Kuiweiyuan returned quickly, and the two cleaned goats were neatly placed on the fire to be roasted. Once the skins changed color, they were brushed with prepared sauce, and a fragrant aroma began to waft out, the sizzling sound of oil carrying far across the silent icy plains.
Ning Xiaoxi diligently carried the firewood that Kuiwei had chopped, keeping a safe distance from the Nine Domains Priest.
"Susu!"
A familiar voice approached, and Ning Xiaoxi turned around abruptly. "Is this little guy crazy? There's a monster here!"
