Chapter 102 The Company's Thriving Development
Chapter 102 The Company's Thriving Development
Seven days after the company's listing ceremony, at 8:50 a.m.
When Lin Feng pushed open the glass door of the company, it was already full of people.
The keyboard clattered incessantly. The telephone rang incessantly; as soon as one was answered, another would ring.
In the channel department's work area, Xu Qiang was shouting into the phone: "Yes, order today, ship tomorrow... You want five hundred units? That's a lot! I need to check the inventory and try my best to ship them."
Next to him, the new online store operator, a bespectacled young man named Chen Yu, was staring intently at the computer screen, his fingers flying across the keyboard. The Taobao Wangwang notification sounds were incessantly beeping.
"Good morning, Mr. Lin." Zhou Zhongcheng greeted him immediately as he passed the Human Resources Department. He was wearing a light gray shirt today, and his hair was neatly combed.
"Good morning." Lin Feng nodded.
The door to the general manager's office was open. He went in and placed his bag on the chair. A cup of tea, steaming hot, was already on the table. Tan Zhao had brewed it for him every day.
The sunlight outside the window was wonderful, illuminating the entire office area.
In the morning, everyone was busy with their own tasks, but the boss, Lin Feng, was relatively relaxed. He was thinking about the next strategic move.
Su Wan was gesturing something in front of the whiteboard, while two new recruits from the GG department were taking notes.
Xu Qiang was on the phone at his workstation, his voice so loud it could be heard through the glass: "Mr. Li, it's not that I don't want to give it to you, it's just that we're really out of stock! If you're really in a hurry, I'll send you fifty units first, the rest you'll just have to wait..."
Lin Feng was in his office. He turned on his computer, logged into his email, and saw seventeen unread emails.
Most of the emails were order confirmations, along with Su Wan's GG (Golden Horse) solution. A few were expedited delivery emails from distributors. He quickly scanned them, replied to a few, and marked the rest as pending.
Shortly after, there was a knock on the door.
"Please come in."
Xu Qiang pushed open the door and came in, holding a report in his hand, his face full of pride.
"Brother Feng, this is the MP3 sales report for this month." He handed the report to Lin Feng.
The official commemorative edition MP3 of "Mice Love Rice" was released in its second batch of 20,000 units, of which 18400 have already been sold, leaving 1600 units in stock.
"At this rate, we'll run out of stock soon," Xu Qiang asked. "When will our third batch arrive? The distributors are pressing us like crazy; my phone is ringing off the hook."
"They've already started production of 20,000 units in Shenzhen, but it won't be that fast," Lin Feng replied.
"Is 20,000 units enough?" Xu Qiang's ambitions were growing. "How about we add some more? I've looked at the data; the popularity hasn't dropped at all, it's actually rising. Forums and online communities are full of discussions about this song, and our MP3 players are the hottest item."
Lin Feng looked at Xu Qiang, seemingly lost in thought.
"No rush. Let's see how the market reacts after the third batch arrives. A price war is coming soon; other brands have already followed suit."
"But this is an official commemorative edition!" Xu Qiang said confidently. "We have exclusive authorization, how can they compete?"
"Licensing is exclusive, but MP3 players aren't," Lin Feng said, keeping a clear head. "The same chip, the same solution, just change the casing and it's a new product. They can wage price wars, compete on distribution channels, and run promotions. Our advantage is the time window, not a guaranteed job."
Wang Peng stopped talking, but his face still showed his dissatisfaction.
"Alright, go ahead and get busy." Lin Feng waved his hand. "We'll have a meeting at 3 PM in the conference room to go through all the data from each department."
"it is good."
Xu Qiang turned to leave, then stopped: "Oh, right, Brother Feng, Shen Jingyi came this morning and brought a document, saying it's some kind of activity plan for the club, and asked you to take a look. I put it on your desk."
"I saw it."
The door closed. Lin Feng glanced at the corner of the table; a brown paper bag lay quietly inside. He picked it up; it contained a proposal, with a handwritten title at the top: "New Semester Campus Music Festival Proposal." The handwriting was neat and elegant, Shen Jingyi's.
I flipped through a few pages; the event schedule, budget, and sponsorship proposal were all meticulously prepared. The last page was blank, with a line of small handwriting lightly written in pencil: "President, have you listened to the song?"
I'd really forgotten about that.
Lin Feng put down the documents and looked at the CD player next to the computer.
The black machine was brand new. Inside was the CD Shen Jingyi had given me, which I hadn't had a chance to listen to yet.
He pressed play.
The guitar intro is very clean. Then comes Shen Jingyi's voice, soft and gentle, quite different from her usual way of speaking.
"The July wind blows through the windowsill, your shirt sways on the clothesline, and the words I wanted to say ultimately become a silent confession..."
The lyrics are simple, and the melody is slightly melancholic, but it's a pleasant listen.
Lin Feng leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes.
There was another knock on the door.
This time it was Zhou Zhongcheng from the Human Resources Department, carrying a stack of folders: "General Manager Lin, these are the labor contracts to be signed."
"Put it here."
Zhou Zhongcheng placed the documents on the table and then left Lin Feng's office.
At the top was Wang Peng's contract. Lin Feng flipped it open; the salary section read: four thousand a month. This was definitely a high salary for an undergraduate in 04. The signature was crooked but firm.
They were signed off one by one.
Xu Qiang, Su Wan, Liu Qian, Tan Zhao and the others have not yet graduated. They signed part-time contracts with Fengchi Digital Studio, but after their junior and senior years, they basically stopped attending classes at school.
This time, with the establishment of the new company, Lin Feng signed new formal employment contracts with them. There was no probationary period; he was promoted directly to a permanent position.
In addition, there are labor contracts for a large number of newly recruited employees, including Zhou Zhongcheng, Zhao Ling, and Li Xiaowei.
The pen tip scratches across the paper with a soft, rustling sound.
After signing the last document, Lin Feng put down his pen and stretched his wrists.
Then, Zhou Zhongcheng was instructed to distribute the labor contracts to everyone.
In the afternoon, Lin Feng convened a meeting with the heads of various departments in the conference room.
Each department reported its data. The online store department's sales increased by 40% month-on-month, and inquiries doubled.
The channel department added three campus agents in second-tier cities, and the offline channel shipments have steadily increased.
The GG department created a campus promotion plan. The finance department reported cash flow, the human resources department reported staffing levels, the administration department reported expenses, and so on.
Numbers, charts, plans, summaries.
Lin Feng listened, occasionally asking a few questions. He was generally satisfied with the company's steady progress. As for the specific tasks of each department, he didn't bother with them, leaving that to the department managers.
After the meeting, Liu Qian, the finance manager, went back to Lin Feng's office alone: "Mr. Lin, there's something I need to discuss."
"explain."
"Wu Wenjie called from Shenzhen yesterday to ask when the final payment for the third batch of goods would be transferred."
"I'm flying to Shenzhen tomorrow to discuss the next business deal with Xinfeng Electronics Factory. Wait for my instructions regarding payment."
"OK!"
After Liu Qian left, Lin Feng picked up the landline phone and dialed Wu Wenjie's number.
"Brother Jie, my flight arrives tomorrow afternoon, landing around 5 PM. I'm arranging payment for the third shipment. We'll discuss the office matter in detail when we meet. Okay, see you at the airport."
After hanging up the phone, he sent Lin Xiaowen another text message.
I will arrive in Shenzhen at 5 PM tomorrow.
Lin Xiaowen replied instantly: "I'll pick you up from the airport tomorrow, see you there!"
Just before I was about to leave work, the phone rang. It was Shen Jingyi calling.
"President, have you read the proposal?"
"I've seen it, it's good."
"Do you have plans for tonight? Let's have dinner together. I have something to ask you. Do you have time?" Shen Jingyi extended an invitation.
"Okay, let's do it at the food street near the side gate of the school," Lin Feng agreed.
"Okay, I'll go over and wait for you. You can come over at your leisure after you get off work."
It's 6 PM, time to get off work.
Lin Feng packed his things and left work, preparing to have dinner with Shen Jingyi.
When I left the office, I found that most people were still there. Wang Peng was teaching Xiao Chen how to handle negative reviews, Xu Qiang was making phone calls to invite agents to dinner, and Su Wan was having a meeting with her colleagues from the GG department.
Although Lin Feng does not encourage working overtime, he feels gratified to see his employees working overtime voluntarily.
If the boss is busy all day while the employees aren't, the company is doomed.
In an excellent company, employees are busy while the boss is relaxed, focusing their energy on strategic direction, ensuring the company's continued prosperity.
