Chapter 69 Helping Children with Family Problems
Chapter 69 Helping Children with Family Problems
"A story about learning to draw?"
The older sister was surprised by this idea. When she was in kindergarten, she saw the older girls in the art class at the school gate and began to dream of painting.
From then on, no matter the wind, she insisted on going to paint after class. She was always hesitant when doing other things, but when she picked up a brush, she felt as if she were possessed by another soul.
"Can I really do it?"
Luo Jinnian smiled and squeezed her sister's fingers: "Of course you can, I believe you."
He wanted his sister to find the confidence to pick up a pen by writing down her drawing stories.
Chu Qingning is clearly very strong, but she just never trusts herself enough.
Having come into this world, Luo Jinnian finally solved his own problems after going through many twists and turns. When one is poor, one should cultivate one's own virtue; when one is successful, one should help others. It is time for him to help his friends deal with the same family problems.
After PE get out of class,
When Luo Jinnian returned to the classroom, her deskmate's seat was still empty. It seemed that Gu Yanxi hadn't returned to school since they started acting together.
I'm going to visit her on set today and ask about her studies.
With more free time, Luo Jin began to pay special attention to the things and people around her.
Of course, the most urgent task is to write an essay. It should be as far as possible made up; writing a good essay is difficult, but writing an abstract one is even harder. The Chinese teacher assigned a free-topic essay last week, ostensibly to "showcase the students' true abilities," but in reality, it was just a way to select a few good writers to participate in the district competition. Luo Jinnian knew this tactic all too well; he didn't want to be targeted.
Luo Jinnian thought that any essay he randomly picked from the "Zero-Score College Entrance Examination Essays" would be rejected for being sloppy. This time, however, he could choose his own topic for the essay, as long as it didn't violate public order and good morals. He specifically looked up the definition of "violating public order and good morals" in the student handbook to make sure his plan wouldn't cross the line—writing absurd content wasn't against the rules; at most, he'd get a scolding from the teacher.
"Then I'll write about school life... hmm... about monsters invading Earth, followed by Ultraman's appearance, with the protagonist going through all sorts of trouble just to get a hamburger." The more he thought about it, the more interesting it seemed, so he picked up his pen and started writing. On his way to school, the protagonist saw a crack appear in the sky, and three monsters descended from the heavens. The school's air raid siren sounded, and students scattered in panic. But the protagonist had only one thought in his mind: the limited-edition hamburger he'd been promised yesterday had arrived today, and he had to pick it up before five o'clock. So, with his backpack on, he ran against the flow of people, climbed over collapsed walls, dodged the monsters' giant feet, and even confronted a small monster at an intersection for three minutes. Finally, he successfully got the hamburger, sat atop the highest point of the city ruins, watched Ultraman fight the monsters in the distance, and took his first satisfying bite. In the end, he wrote: "The aroma of the hamburger overpowered the smoke of battle, and the color of the ketchup blended seamlessly with the sunset. At that moment, he understood that the resilience of human civilization lies not in creating powerful weapons, but in the fact that when disaster strikes, someone still remembers to eat a hamburger."
As expected, when he handed it to the homeroom teacher, he was severely criticized. The homeroom teacher was so angry that his face turned green. He slammed the composition book on the table in the office and said, "Who wrote this? Luo Jinnian! Do you think I haven't seen Ultraman? Is this a composition or a made-up story?" Several teachers nearby were trying to suppress their laughter so hard that their shoulders were shaking.
Then the task was handed over to the Chinese language class representative, "The class representative is capable and should do more."
The class representative for Chinese language gave a silly, clueless laugh.
The main reason why Luo Jinnian didn't take his essays seriously was that he didn't want to reveal his identity, which would be too shocking. Another important reason was that he knew that the school's staff were mostly capable people, and he couldn't reveal his own abilities, otherwise he would be the one sought out for any essay competitions or activities at the school.
After a few peaceful days on campus, on Saturday, Luo Jinnian finished washing clothes in the washing machine in her rented room and went out to play with Gu Yanxi.
The washing machine is an old model left by the landlord. It makes a sound like a tractor when it spins, and the aunt next door has already complained twice.
"I'll just have to buy a new washing machine myself. I might as well buy it sooner and enjoy it sooner, since I'll be moving it with me anyway."
He hung the clothes up to dry, straightened his collar in front of the mirror, and before leaving, he made a point of bringing the notes and a few extracurricular books he had prepared for Gu Yanxi.
The film crew was located in a film and television base on the outskirts of the city, a forty-minute taxi ride away. When Luo Jinnian arrived, the atmosphere on set was tense.
Soon he saw Director Mo holding a megaphone, giving instructions to the actors. Several lead actors in the crew listened attentively, looking restrained. "It's such a simple scene, yet you can't seem to get the feeling out of it no matter how many times you watch it."
"You don't know that the child actors in my previous department, who were under ten years old, acted better than you all."
Turning around, she saw Luo Jinnian standing there awkwardly.
Director Mo pulled them over, "You've all seen his movies, right? I don't expect you to act with the same level of dedication as him—after all, not everyone has that kind of talent. But as actors, can't you at least have some understanding of the characters you're supposed to be playing in your scripts?"
Luo Jinnian, who was used and then thrown away, found the girl under the tree after wandering around the film set for a while.
"How have you been lately?"
"Not bad. I heard you went back to school? Our genius brother is finally going back to campus, huh?"
Luo Jinnian sat down. "You should go back too. Someone your age should be in school."
Gu Yanxi shook her head. Since she had already explained her family situation before, and she knew that Luo Jinnian's family was also complicated, she told her the truth that she had never told anyone else, including her mother.
"You don't understand, there's a reason why I'm not going back."
"You also want to get rid of your father, right? But that's different..."
Luo Jinnian's mother is a vulnerable person in society; the only rights she has are those for her own child. But the girl's father is different.
Gu Sheng is the only Chinese actor to have won all three major international film awards, and he is also the box office king of domestic films.
"You have to eat one bite at a time and walk one step at a time. And I happen to be quite free right now, so I can help you with the script for the movie you're going to be acting in next."
Gu Yanxi was very pleased to hear this, and she knew how good her friend was at writing screenplays: "It's a promise, I'll be relying on you a lot from now on."
He even reached out and gave Luo Jinnian a hug.
"What are you doing?"
"Isn't this a hidden rule? You've helped me so much, if you still can't find a girlfriend in the end, you can come to me, your brother."
Luo Jinnian was speechless. "Get out."
He nudged Gu Yanxi's head, pushing away the face that had been so close. Gu Yanxi grinned and shrank back, putting her headphones back on to listen to music.
Luo Jinnian was not joking.
He didn't care whether the famous actor surnamed Gu had his reasons; he just enjoyed the feeling of challenging adult authority as a child.
With so many good scripts in hand, it would be interesting to just take them out, put Gu Yanxi on the throne, and give the movie star a good slap in the face.
"In fact, I've already thought of a title for the next script: 'The Hidden Corner,' and you'll play the young female lead."
They will have many more collaborations in the future.
