Chapter 150: Public Execution
Chapter 150: Public Execution
Seeing this, the Crown Prince frowned helplessly. He placed his folding fan against his attendant's arm and said with a sigh, "One must not be rude in front of outsiders!"
“Your Highness! She is so rude, she deserves to be punished,” the attendant said indignantly.
Song Miqiu rolled her eyes as she listened to her attendant's words and couldn't help but mutter, "The Crown Prince hasn't even spoken yet, and an attendant is already gossiping. Anyone who doesn't know better would think you're the Crown Prince."
Fortunately, the attendants and the crown prince did not hear clearly, otherwise Song Miqiu would have suffered.
What puzzled her even more was why the Crown Prince was so concerned about Consort Lin's health and the fetus in her womb.
Song Miqiu boldly raised his head and looked directly at the Crown Prince. After a moment of contemplation, he lowered his head and said softly, "Your Highness, please forgive me for not being able to tell you about Consort Lin's health condition."
"Hey, you!" Upon seeing this, the attendant was so angry that he wanted to rush over and teach Song Miqiu a lesson.
He never expected that there would be people in the palace who would contradict the Crown Prince and refuse to respond properly.
Just as the attendant was about to move forward, the prince blocked his path with his folding fan, clearly having been drawn to Song Miqiu's words.
He hadn't expected that the person who had been so afraid of him before would actually argue back when faced with his questions, probably out of consideration for Consort Lin's health.
Thinking of the treacherous schemes within the palace, the Crown Prince lowered his head and chuckled softly. Just like before, he did not utter a word to blame Song Miqiu for not answering.
"I know you did this for the safety of Consort Lin's unborn child. I suppose she must have made some kind of deal with you?"
Upon hearing this, Song Miqiu subconsciously looked up at the Crown Prince. She raised an eyebrow, surprised that the Crown Prince even knew these things. At the same time, Song Miqiu clearly caught a fleeting smile in the Crown Prince's eyes.
She understood instantly.
The relationship between the Crown Prince and Consort Lin must be extraordinary. If I were to fabricate a story and reveal it, I don't know if it would reach Consort Lin's ears, but my credibility in front of the Crown Prince would be greatly diminished.
Thinking of this, Song Miqiu did not hide anything from the Crown Prince and explained Lin Fei's physical condition in detail.
"Your Majesty is in good health. She just suffered a little miscarriage a few days ago. Now she can rest and recuperate."
Song Miqiu also guessed that the Crown Prince might summon his confidants to investigate his words.
The Crown Prince has overreached. His men could easily investigate Consort Lin's situation, yet he suddenly asks her questions. Is he just trying to test her?
As soon as she spoke, Song Miqiu saw the Crown Prince nod. The Crown Prince took out a gold ingot from his pouch and met Song Miqiu's gaze.
Song Miqiu immediately realized what was happening, bent down and extended his hands to accept the Crown Prince's reward, saying, "Your subject thanks Your Highness!"
"Once you accept this ingot of gold, you must take good care of Consort Lin for me. If anything happens to Consort Lin or the child in her womb, I will hold you responsible," the Crown Prince said meaningfully.
Song Miqiu sensed a warning in his words, and a chill ran down her spine. Although the Crown Prince's tone was gentle, she had a feeling that if he found out that she had done something detrimental to Consort Lin, she would definitely be punished by him.
She nodded repeatedly, holding the gold ingot in one hand, but felt extremely flustered.
It felt as if the gold ingot weighed a million pounds in her hands.
"Your Majesty, I will certainly do everything in my power to take good care of Consort Lin!"
The Crown Prince nodded in satisfaction, waved for Song Miqiu to leave, and turned back to continue enjoying the scenery.
Song Miqiu lowered her head and slowly left the place with these things. She frowned slightly, feeling that something was not quite right.
She opened her hand, revealing the gold beneath her palm. Song Miqiu frowned, striding away, utterly bewildered by what was happening.
Even if the Crown Prince and Consort Lin have a special relationship, there's no need for them to be so intimate.
She turned to look at the Crown Prince and his entourage in the distance. The Crown Prince seemed to sense something and turned his head to look, which startled Song Miqiu so much that she quickly turned her head back.
Song Miqiu shrugged, startled, and quickly took a step away from the spot.
Upon returning to the Imperial Hospital, Song Miqiu clearly sensed something was amiss. She peeked out and looked around the Imperial Hospital, but found no one there.
"Strange, where did they go?" Song Miqiu looked up and calculated the time, realizing that it was already time to start work.
The imperial physician who had greeted her in the morning was no longer at her post. Seeing that he hadn't finished turning over the herbs, Song Miqiu stepped in to help him.
She looked around and went to check one room after another, only to find that the imperial physicians were gone and the herbs they had prepared were not fully processed.
This made Song Miqiu frown. Herbs were the lifeblood of imperial physicians, and the fact that they left without finishing handling these herbs meant they must have something urgent to attend to.
Although she had been ostracized by the people of the Imperial Medical Academy, Song Miqiu knew in her heart that the imperial physicians would not be so irresponsible towards the herbs under their care.
Thinking of this, she frowned, looked around, pursed her lips, and a sense of unease began to rise in her heart.
Meanwhile, her right eyelid kept twitching wildly, as if something big was about to happen.
Suddenly, Song Miqiu thought of a place. She quickly cleaned up the remaining herbs, then lifted her skirt and walked out of the house. She turned around and went to the hall.
She crouched low and cautiously approached the hall. After glancing around, she discovered that the imperial physician she had spoken to that morning was here.
Song Miqiu's eyes lit up instantly. She waved at the other person and called out a few times in a low voice before the other person realized that someone was calling him.
The imperial physician turned his head and saw that it was Song Miqiu. He was startled and frowned, giving Song Miqiu a look that said "good luck."
"What's wrong?" Song Miqiu frowned in confusion. She tried to crane her neck to look inside, but the bodies of the imperial physicians blocked her view, so she couldn't see anything at all.
Those around the imperial physician noticed the situation and looked over with him. Seeing Song Miqiu arrive, they turned around and shouted sternly, "Song Miqiu is here!"
He was too fast; Song Miqiu didn't even have time to stop him.
She sighed heavily, got up, glanced at the imperial physician who had filed the complaint as she passed by, and then stepped inside.
Perhaps the reason they were gathered in the hall was because of Song Miqiu.
Upon hearing that she had arrived, the imperial physicians, who had been huddled together, immediately made way for Song Miqiu.
Seeing their politeness, Song Miqiu laughed awkwardly a few times and strode in. She saw Lin Yecheng standing not far away with a livid face and a stern expression.
Seeing this, Song Miqiu frowned even more deeply. She had only failed to return to her post on time; it seemed unnecessary to make such a big fuss.
Everyone from the Imperial Medical Academy has gathered in this hall.
Song Miqiu felt a chill run down his spine; this was tantamount to public execution.
