Chapter 60 Lin Ran's Leadership
Chapter 60 Lin Ran's Leadership
Wei Min was still hunched over, panting. Yao Ziwen stood beside him, one hand supporting his back. Li Yifan also stopped, took a bottle of water from his bag, and handed it to Wei Min.
Arguments could be heard from other classes nearby.
"Can you hurry up? You're the slowest in the whole class!"
"I can't run anymore!"
"Even if we can't run anymore, we have to run! Forget about the team results?"
"If you're in such a hurry, go ahead and run! What's with the rush?"
"Stop arguing! Damn it, everyone's scattered and you're still arguing!"
The formations of each class were completely disrupted.
Those who ran fast had long since disappeared from sight, while those who ran slowly lagged behind in twos and threes, with a long, sparsely scattered group of people in the middle.
Some people simply started walking, some sat by the roadside taking off their shoes and rubbing their feet, and some asked their roommates to bring them water. There was no longer any class distinction; everyone went their own way.
Lin Ran stopped and looked at his class's line. They had been stretching for almost half a kilometer.
Yao Ziwen and Li Yifan accompanied Wei Min at the very back; Wei Min's face was as white as paper.
"Yao Ziwen," Lin Ran called out.
Yao Ziwen raised his head.
"Gather the people at the back. The boys who are physically fit, in groups of two or three, spread out next to the girls and those who can't keep up. Help those who need it, and give them water. Don't let anyone fall behind."
Yao Ziwen paused for a moment, then nodded. "Okay."
"Li Yifan, you go with Yao Ziwen, I'll go to the front and gather the people."
Li Yifan responded and ran forward.
Lin Ran is very fast. After being reborn, he feels much better physically. If he runs at full speed, he can easily finish in the top 20.
He quickly reached the front of the class and caught up with several classmates, led by Wang Haochen.
"Everyone, please pause for a moment and do as I say. I can guarantee that everyone will get a four-person room."
As soon as Lin Ran finished speaking, Wang Haochen frowned and said, "What? You want to drag me down with you because of your lazy roommates?"
Wang Haochen showed no sign of stopping.
Lin Ran didn't care anymore. He ignored Wang Haochen and said to the other faster runners in his class, "Look at all those people ahead of you. It'll be hard to catch up to the top 20, right? Why don't you work together and try to get first place as a team?"
"But the class monitor..."
Some people saw Wang Haochen disappear without a trace.
"It doesn't matter. No matter how fast he runs, as long as we all maintain our formation, our class will have the smallest time difference."
In other classes, everyone was running around in a chaotic frenzy, and every class would inevitably have a few students who were lagging behind.
Upon hearing this, the boys, panting, agreed.
They are indeed not as fast as Wang Haochen, and it will be difficult for them to break into the top 20. Lin Ran is obviously faster and is willing to lead everyone. So what else can they say?
Finally, everyone in Lin Ran's class except for the class monitor, Wang Haochen, was gathered together.
"Listen up, everyone. From now on, our class will run in Christmas tree formation. The boys with good stamina will be in the front row, two or three at a time, taking turns breaking the wind."
The boys in the middle section spread out next to the girls, helping them run and handing them water to control their pace. Keep the formation tight and maintain a steady pace, avoiding sudden changes in speed.
"Everyone, line up as I said. I'll start by breaking the wind. Those in the middle, each of you watch out for someone who can't keep up, make sure no one falls behind. Keep the formation tight, don't scatter."
The team started moving.
At first it was a bit chaotic, and the boys in the front row didn't know how fast to run, but with Lin Ran leading the way, it was like they had a goal and a backbone, and they all slowly started running in Lin Ran's rhythm.
As the person supporting others ran, a rhythm naturally emerged.
The three boys in the front row, led by Lin Ran, ran side by side, blocking most of the wind.
After running several hundred meters, Lin Ran said to switch, two people in the front row stepped down, and two people in the back row took their place, but the formation remained unchanged.
Lin Ran always took the lead, running at the very front of the group, breaking through the wind.
The boys in the middle section were scattered next to the girls and the weaker students. Some handed them water, and some supported their arms. Although the overall speed was not fast, the rhythm was very good.
Wei Min ran in the middle of the group, Yao Ziwen ran to his left, and Li Yifan ran to his right. His breathing stabilized, and some color returned to his face.
Girls with similar physical conditions to him also adapted to the rhythm.
No one spoke, only the rhythmic sounds of breathing and footsteps. The entire class ran in a tight square formation, looking from above like a Christmas tree moving forward.
On the distant mountains.
Several instructors stood under the shade of trees on the hillside, each with a pair of binoculars in hand.
The asphalt road at the foot of the mountain stretches from the school all the way to the entrance of the base, and the road is full of students undergoing military training.
Most of the classes had already scattered, running for several kilometers in a scattered manner. Some were fast, some were slow, and some simply sat by the roadside and stopped running.
One of the instructors put down his binoculars and shook his head.
"It's the same every year. When an individual clashes with a group, no one steps forward to mediate, and that's the result."
"This can be considered their first lesson in university: how difficult it is for an individual to manage themselves, let alone lead a team!"
The instructors talked as they watched.
One of the instructors, while watching, suddenly fixed his binoculars on the screen.
"Wow, this class is interesting! Is it taught by Zhao Qian? Zhao Qian, look!"
Zhao Qian was standing with his hands behind his back, looking down at the road below the mountain. He turned his head.
"Come and look at this."
Zhao Qian took the binoculars.
A square formation appeared in the shot.
Unlike other classes, this formation was very compact, dense in the middle and neat in the back, like a Christmas tree moving forward. Some were breaking the wind at the front, some were helping classmates who couldn't keep up, and some were handing out water. No one fell behind, and no one argued.
Everyone worked in an orderly manner, constantly rotating their positions to help their classmates.
Zhao Qian adjusted the focus of the telescope.
At the front of the formation, instead of a leader, was a rather tall boy who was talking to someone next to him. Then he patted the shoulder of a boy in front of him, and that boy stepped back to the middle. Immediately, two more boys joined him on either side to break the wind.
"Your class is pretty good!"
The instructor patted Zhao Qian on the shoulder: "That's your class monitor, right? Pretty capable. Getting the whole class to work so well together on the first day! I've never seen anything like it in years!"
Zhao Qian took the binoculars off his eyes.
"He's not the class monitor."
"Not the class monitor?"
Zhao Qian raised his binoculars again and scanned the formation. "The squad leader isn't in the ranks."
The instructors exchanged glances and looked at each other, bewildered.
One of the instructors chuckled. "From now on, your squad leader is a figurehead."
Zhao Qian stared at Lin Ran, who was leading the group, and a rare smile appeared on his dark face.
