Chapter 15: Lesson 1 Will Scare You to Tears
Chapter 15: Lesson 1 Will Scare You to Tears
In the police station's armory, Ethan Lee put on his body camera, with Evelyn behind him holding two shotguns. The policewoman looked a little uneasy.
"Well, I don't know if the officer asked me for my opinion of you because of the trainee instructor."
Lee Esen said without turning his head.
"If your face doesn't look like you've done something wrong, it will be more convincing."
"....."
Evelyn hesitated for two seconds before speaking again.
"I only said that because I think you're more reliable than the other candidates."
"Thank you for your feedback."
Evelyn thought about the phone call from yesterday and wondered if it had anything to do with today's instructor position.
The two continued walking towards the police car. Li Yisen glanced at the policewoman with her head down and ultimately decided not to throw a tantrum. Since he had already made up his mind, he shouldn't complain.
Ultimately, his refusal stemmed not only from not wanting to hinder the progress of the case, but also from his apprehension about serving as an instructor.
Although he had made ample preparations before becoming a patrol officer, and even simulated many emergency response methods with his classmates, it was still true that he served as a patrol officer the next day.
He was unsure whether he was up to the task of being a trainee instructor, and even more unsure whether he would "corrupt" the first trainee police officer.
Generally, Level 2 police officers have been on duty for several years and have long had a familiar patrol and case-handling rhythm and habits, but he has not been trained. In other words, he is in the same exploration and training stage as the probationary police officers.
This is really troublesome.
Lee Ethan turned to look at Evelyn, who, lost in thought, bumped into his arms.
"Feel sorry."
"Evelyn Hill, your upcoming internship may be a living hell."
"what?"
Evelyn looked at the new instructor in confusion. What did it mean to face hell?
Faced with a pretty face so close to his, and because of the height difference, Li Yisen resisted the urge to flick the other person's forehead.
"That means I will be extremely strict with you and train you to be a qualified police officer according to my standards. Be prepared."
Evelyn was stunned for a moment upon hearing this, then almost couldn't help but smile. Her new instructor had already accepted her.
"Yes, sir, I won't let you down."
"Anyone can talk the talk, but you'll walk the walk."
Soon the car radio started playing.
"Someone called the police and reported seeing a suspicious person loitering in the main residential area, at 113 Senbo Road."
Lee Esen sat in the driver's seat and picked up the walkie-talkie.
"Police car 9A55 received, en route."
.....
Soon it was noon, and Li Yisen and his colleague went to a fast food restaurant to have lunch. Police officers who are familiar with each other may meet at the same place to have lunch, so they can chat and exchange information about the police situation in their jurisdiction.
Unfortunately, Li Yisen wasn't familiar with his other colleagues, so he had to find a place nearby on his own. Besides, it wouldn't be good for his teaching to be done with other colleagues around.
Evelyn stretched and yawned, her ample figure, which had been suppressed by the bulletproof vest, was somewhat freed, prompting Lee Esen to glance at her.
"A whole morning is spent on trivial matters; it's really exhausting."
Lee Ethan picked up the hamburger and took a bite.
"Your patrols over the past month have been about the same as today's. Don't tell me today is particularly boring."
"I was just venting."
Evelyn felt a little more relaxed than usual. Sure enough, the new instructors weren't as strict as the veteran ones. Father, my decision was definitely right.
Lee Ethan watched the policewoman eat fries like a hamster, and her large, empty drink, and wondered what he was planning.
He had already briefly looked through the other party's file, which was the prerogative of a trainee instructor. He discovered that this guy had only been involved in two gunfights. The first one ended before he even got close to the enemy, and the second one was yesterday.
After eating and drinking their fill, the police car quickly responded to some more trivial matters, such as neighbors arguing and calling the police, even though no physical altercations had occurred.
"Hey officers, it's good that you're here. Hurry up and arrest this guy. He's been making noise and disturbing my life."
"It's daytime now."
Disappointed, Li Yisen stepped forward and asked, "Why aren't you fighting?" Then he would get another 1-star reward. He had been particularly unlucky today and hadn't made a single sale all morning.
"You two, please be quiet."
First, they asked to report it to the police.
"Ma'am, do you have any evidence?"
"Of course he does, otherwise that bastard would never admit it."
The police presented a decibel meter and recordings, confirming that the noise level met the standard for complaints in residential areas, exceeding 55 decibels.
"Sir, this is your first verbal warning. If you don't correct your behavior, the next time it might not just be a verbal warning."
The bald man could only nod reluctantly.
"Okay, I'll keep my voice down."
"The case is closed," Evelyn suddenly said.
"I need to go to the restroom."
"Go quickly and come back quickly."
"Um."
Evelyn entered the public restroom, checked all the toilet stalls to make sure no one was there, and then went into the last one. She unbuckled her duty belt and casually placed it on the hook on the door, which was used for women to put their bags or similar items.
Pulling down her pants revealed her fair, jade-like skin, and then it was time to relax.
Just as the sound of running water was about to end, a hand suddenly reached in from above the toilet and snatched away the duty belt.
At that moment, Evelyn's eyes widened, and she instinctively babbled incoherently.
"No, no, please don't!"
As the footsteps faded into the distance, Evelyn hurriedly pulled up her pants and chased after them, but a few seconds was enough to make them disappear from sight.
When Evelyn saw the instructor standing next to the police car, she couldn't help but ask with a mournful face.
"Ethan, did you see anyone come out of the bathroom?"
"What happened? Where are your belt and sidearm?"
Evelyn said hastily.
"It was just taken. I hung my belt on the hook when I went to the toilet, and I made sure the toilet was empty. Why was someone still there?"
Lee Ethan looked like he was about to explode in anger.
"Did the cubicle door touch the ceiling?"
No, nothing.
The reprimand came out the next second.
"In other words, if you place your equipment in a dangerous location without ensuring safety, the other party can easily grab it."
Evelyn was caught off guard by the yelling and didn't know how to respond. She felt her eyes getting a little wet.
Lee Esen wasn't about to let the other party off the hook.
"Because of your negligence, your service weapon was taken by someone with malicious intent and ended up on the streets. Have you considered the consequences?"
"..."
Evelyn envisioned a series of consequences: the criminals using her service weapon to rob her, or even shoot and kill others. As for her lost gun, if she couldn't find it, even if she avoided being fired thanks to her connections, she would feel ashamed and unable to stay among her colleagues.
"I, I, I didn't mean to, it was just an oversight."
Lee Esen was about to reprimand him when suddenly the car radio broadcasted more information about the case.
"Someone called the police that his neighbor was loitering at the intersection with a knife, wearing a white shirt. The address was 12 Desheng Street."
Li Yisen picked up the walkie-talkie and gave a reply.
"Police car 9A55 has been received and is en route."
After hanging up the call, Li Yisen took a belt out of the car and threw it to Evelyn.
"Get in the car."
"....."
Evelyn stared blankly at the belt, and only after being urged by the instructor did she get into the car and fasten her seatbelt, silently muttering to herself.
Father, I was wrong. The new instructor is not easy to get along with at all.
