Chapter 414 Wounded
Chapter 414 Wounded
“Because I need your help,” Kaka said earnestly. “I need to go to the south of the city to investigate, but acting alone would be too conspicuous. If you could come with me, under the guise of visiting relatives…”
Renn's heart was racing.
Is this an opportunity or a trap? What exactly is Ms. Eileen trying to do?
But Rennes has no other choice now.
“I would be happy to help, Your Highness.”
And so, disguised, Kaka and Rein quietly left the palace.
Walking along the narrow streets of the south of the city, Renn noticed that Kaka showed genuine curiosity and concern for the details of life in the commoners' district, without any of the disdain commonly seen among nobles.
“It’s even more dilapidated here than when I last came,” Kaka said sadly. “Have the taxes increased again?”
Renn nodded: "The base card tax has increased by 30%, forcing many families to reduce their card usage."
Kaka clenched his fist: "I must persuade my father to change these policies."
As they turned a corner, three young noblemen dressed in fine clothes suddenly blocked their way.
Raine instantly recognized the blond man in the middle—the very same murderer who had hurt her sister three years ago.
"Look who's here?" the blond nobleman sneered. "A little rat from the slums with his little girlfriend?"
Rein instinctively stepped in front of Kaka: "Get out of the way, Derek."
“Oh? You know me?” Derek raised an eyebrow. “Then I’ll have to treat you even better.”
He drew a card that gleamed with a cold light—the very same Tier 3 Ice Blade card that had been stolen the night before.
Kakaraj pulled back his cloak hood: "Derek Moriarty, put down that card right now!"
Derek's expression changed drastically: "Your Highness, Princess?!"
His two companions were so frightened that they took several steps back and ran away in an instant.
“It’s me,” Kaka said coldly. “Now explain why the cards stolen from the Royal Card Vault are in your possession?”
Derek's expression shifted from shock to ferocity: "So you've been recognized..."
He suddenly activated the card, and dozens of ice blades shot towards Kaka. "Then I won't let you go back alive!"
Rein reacted quickly, shoving Kaka aside, but he himself was struck by three ice blades, and blood instantly stained his clothes.
“Rain!” Kaka screamed.
Derek sneered, preparing for a second wave of attacks: "What a touching story of a hero saving a damsel in distress. Too bad, you're all going to die here today."
Anger flared in Kaka's eyes.
The Eye of All Things card flew out from her sleeve, radiating brilliant golden light.
Derek's ice blade evaporated instantly in the golden light.
“No, impossible!” Derek stepped back in horror.
"What do you know?" Kaka demanded sharply, kneeling down to check on Renn's injuries. "Renn, hang in there!"
Derek didn't answer, but instead pulled out a black card: "Your Highness, do you think you're the only one with legendary cards?"
He activated the card, and a cloud of black mist enveloped him, causing him to vanish without a trace.
Kaka was too busy to pursue, as Renn's injuries were too severe.
"Hang in there, I'll take you back to the palace for treatment!"
Ryan shook his head with difficulty: "It's too far. My sister's house is nearby."
When Kaka helped the dying Ryan to his sister's house, his sister's screams startled the entire neighborhood.
"Raine! Oh my god, it's those nobles again!" The sister cried, tears streaming down her face.
Kaka carefully placed Raine on the bed: "I need clean water and a cloth, quick!"
Only then did the older sister notice Kaka's unusual demeanor: "Who are you?"
"I'm Kaka, and now I have to save your brother!"
The two worked together to clean Renn's wounds, but the damage caused by the ice blades far exceeded that of ordinary wounds, and the cold air was corroding Renn's internal organs.
"Regular healing cards are useless!" the sister said in despair.
Kaka bit her lip and made a decision: "There is a way, but it's dangerous."
She took out the Eye of All Things card. "This card has healing abilities, but I've never tried it on anyone else."
"The energy of a legendary card is too much for Renn's body to handle," his sister said in horror.
“I know, but this is the only chance.” Kaka looked at the unconscious Renn. “Renn saved my life, I can’t just stand by and watch him die. Let’s try.”
The older sister was silent for a moment, then slowly nodded: "Do it."
Kaka took a deep breath and hovered the Eye of All Things above Renn's chest.
Golden light flowed into Renn's wound like water, causing his body to convulse violently, and golden patterns to emerge beneath his skin.
"It hurts so much! Stop!" the older sister cried out.
"Don't stop! He'll die instantly if we stop now!" Kaka gritted her teeth and persevered, sweat streaming down her face.
Suddenly, Raine opened his eyes—but the whites of his eyes had turned completely gold.
He screamed silently, his body arched, then fell heavily back down, returning to stillness.
The golden light gradually faded, and Kaka sat on the ground, exhausted.
The Eye of All Things card became dull and lifeless, as if it had run out of energy.
"Did it...did it work?" the older sister asked, her voice trembling.
Just then, Raine coughed a few times and slowly opened his eyes—normal eyes.
He looked around in confusion: "What happened?"
Overjoyed, his sister burst into tears and hugged him tightly.
Kaka gave a tired smile, but her smile quickly froze.
Raine's notebook slid out of his pocket, and the open page clearly read "Investigation Report on the Truth of the Power of Noble Cards".
Renn followed her gaze, his face instantly turning deathly pale: "Kaka, I can explain!"
Kaka picked up the notebook, quickly glanced through a few pages, and his expression grew increasingly shocked: "So, you approached me to expose me? To prove that my power is merely a privilege of the nobility?"
The air in the room seemed to freeze.
Ryan struggled to sit up: "At first, yes, but then I realized I was wrong."
Kaka tossed the laptop onto the bed, a hurt glint in her eyes: "I genuinely considered you a friend, a partner, but you were just using me."
“That’s not it!” Ryan said urgently. “I’ve changed my mind. I see your sincerity.”
“Enough,” Kaka interrupted him, his voice icy. “The guards will find you here soon, and they will take you back to the palace for treatment and interrogation.”
"Kaka, please give me a chance to explain!"
Kaka had already turned and was walking towards the door: "The Eye of All Things chose me not because of my bloodline, but because of my heart. Unfortunately, you will never understand this."
The sound of the door closing was like a thunderclap to Renn's ears.
He closed his eyes in anguish, knowing that his deception had deeply hurt the princess who had truly loved him.
His sister gently took his hand: "Raine, that notebook is from a plan from a long time ago, isn't it?"
Ryan nodded, tears silently streaming down his face. "I had already given up on that plan, but I was too stupid to not destroy it."
That's why it actually appeared before the princess!
