Chapter 2 Naming
Chapter 2 Naming
"Father, Father, I want to see my sister!"
"Third Uncle, Grandpa, Grandma, we want to see our little sister too!"
Just then, a group of teenagers ran in from outside, shouting as they ran. These were the grandchildren of the Xiao family, the oldest being just over 10 years old, all with chubby faces.
"Alright, alright, come over here. Don't shout. Your little sister isn't awake yet. Just take a quiet look," Xiao Qinian said softly to the children, beckoning them to his side.
"Third Uncle, why does my little sister look all wrinkled? She's not pretty at all, she looks like a little old lady. Can you give me a different little sister? I want Da Bao's little sister."
No sooner had she finished speaking than Boss Xiao slapped her across the face. "What nonsense are you spouting? Who's like an old lady who wants to change her sister? I think we should just replace you."
“Sining, all newborns are like this. After a while, they will become fair and tender. You can’t say that to your little sister, or she will be sad.” The eldest son’s wife, Zhao Yindi, came in from outside and gently explained to her youngest son.
Xiao Sining raised her hand and rubbed her head, saying, "I understand, Mother." She then turned around and apologized to her younger sister in Xiao Qinian's arms.
Seeing how sensible her son was, Zhao Yindi patted his head with satisfaction and turned to Xiao Qinian, saying, "Third brother, your wife is awake. Take the child and go see her."
-
Inside the room, Lin Qin woke up and subconsciously touched her belly before realizing that she had already given birth. She quickly turned around and saw Liu Cui, the second daughter-in-law of the Xiao family, busy in the room.
"Second sister-in-law, where's the child? The child is missing!" Lin Qin asked anxiously.
"Sister-in-law, don't worry, the baby is fine," Liu Cui comforted Lin Qin when she saw her anxiety.
"The child is in the main room. I'll go over and have the third son bring him over."
Just as she reached the door, she bumped into Zhao Yindi, who was coming over. "Sister-in-law, you've come at the right time. Third sister-in-law has woken up. Go to the main room and tell her to have third brother bring the baby over for her to see. I'll go to the kitchen and get some porridge for her. She's just woken up and is still very weak."
Liu Cui went to the kitchen, where Old Lady Xiao had already ladled out the porridge. "Mother, my third sister-in-law has woken up. I'll take the porridge over to her so she can have some to replenish her strength."
"My third son's wife is awake. I'll go see her too." When Old Lady Xiao learned that her youngest daughter-in-law had woken up, she also wanted to go see her, so the two of them went to the third son's house together.
……
Inside the third room, Xiao Qinian had already brought the child over. "Wife, you're awake. Are you still feeling unwell? Don't get up. Look, this is our daughter. She's so adorable," Xiao Qinian said, holding the child to Lin Qin's side with a tender expression.
When Old Lady Xiao came over and saw that her youngest daughter-in-law was in good spirits, she was relieved. "Third son, let me hold the baby first. You feed your wife some porridge. She's worked up a lot of energy. Eat something before you take care of the baby."
After hearing this, Xiao Qinian handed the child to his wife, took the porridge from his second sister-in-law, and sat down by the bed to feed his wife the porridge.
After the porridge was finished, Old Mrs. Xiao handed the child to Xiao Qinian, saying, "Alright, let's go out and let your wife get some rest."
"I understand, Mother."
After Old Mrs. Xiao and her two daughters-in-law left, only Xiao Qinian and his family of three remained in the room.
"My wife, I was so scared today! Luckily, you gave birth safely, otherwise I wouldn't know what to do."
Looking at Xiao Qinian, who still looked shaken, Lin Qin felt a deep sense of dread herself. She was genuinely afraid—afraid that Xiao Qinian would die, and even more afraid that her child would never have the chance to witness the sunrise and sunset, the blooming and withering of flowers, in this beautiful world.
Although she was also scared, she still comforted her husband, saying, "Husband, I'm alright. Don't worry, we'll both be fine."
"My husband, I want to see the child again."
Upon hearing this, Xiao Qinian moved the child closer to his wife.
“My wife, we finally have a daughter. I didn’t have much hope before, thinking it would probably be another boy,” after all, there had never been a girl in their family for generations.
"Yes, we have a daughter now," Lin Qin said happily, touching her child's little face.
“Husband, look, our daughter has two little bells on her ears. She must be a lucky child,” Lin Qin said to Xiao Qinian with delight.
Xiao Qinian looked over and, sure enough, it was true. In their area, the elders often said that children with little bells in their ears were lucky.
While the couple rejoiced over their child, Siyue had already woken up and was quietly listening to her parents' conversation.
Are these her parents in this life? Judging from their voices, they don't seem very old. They are very gentle and their words are full of love. Will she finally have loving parents?
"Husband, what should we name our daughter?" Lin Qin asked her husband expectantly.
"This is the first girl in our Xiao family's grandchildren, so you'd better choose a good name for her."
"Of course."
Xiao Qinian thought about it carefully for a while and said:
“Their generation uses the character ‘Si’ in their name. I want to name my daughter Si Yue. What do you think? I hope my daughter can live a happy and carefree life.”
“I think this name is great. Our daughter should grow up happily.” Lin Qin agreed with the name Xiao Qinian gave his daughter, Nian.
"Is it joyful? To be happy and carefree—is this what my parents hope for me in this life?" The baby in her arms pondered. "Don't worry, I will grow up happily, and you will be carefree too."
"My dear wife, you should rest for a while. You've had a hard day. I'll take Xiao Siyue to the main room and tell her parents the name we've chosen."
“Okay, then you go ahead, I’ll sleep a little longer,” Xiao Qinian covered his wife with the blanket, tucked her in, and then turned and carried the child to the main room.
-
"Father, Mother,"
"Is your wife resting?" Old Mrs. Xiao asked as she saw her youngest son come in.
"Mother, my wife has gone to sleep."
"Dad, Xiaoqin and I just discussed it and decided to name our daughter Sixue. We hope she can grow up happily and carefree. What do you think of this name?"
After listening, Grandpa Xiao stroked his beard and pondered for a while before saying, "This name is quite good. She is the first girl in our Xiao family's grandchildren, so she should grow up happily. Let's go with this name."
After hearing it, the others also thought the name was quite good.
"Dad, is my sister's name Siyue? Can I hug her?" Xiao Qinian's son, Xiao Siyu, looked at his father with bright, sparkling eyes.
"No, you're too young. You can't hold your little sister and she'll fall. You can do it when you're a bit older."
Xiao Siyu's lips immediately twitched. Was it really not allowed? He felt that he was already an adult and could hug his little sister. Although he thought that way, he still obediently listened to her.
Xiao Sining, who was close to Xiao Siyu's age, looked at Xiao Siyu's pouting face and covered her mouth to chuckle. "Oh dear, Siyu always claims to be an adult, but look at him now, his own father has denied him. What a little brat."
"Old woman, have you told your two daughters yet?" Old Master Xiao suddenly remembered that he had two daughters.
Old Mrs. Xiao suddenly remembered the matter. With everything that had happened today, the whole family was terribly worried and hadn't remembered anything else. She quickly gave the instructions:
"Eldest brother, it's still early. Go to your two younger sisters' houses and tell them that they've been worried about your sister-in-law."
Upon hearing this, Boss Xiao hurriedly went out. It was already close to afternoon, and the weather wasn't too hot, so he could return before dark.
