Chapter 267 Tang Huilan
Chapter 267 Tang Huilan
"Sister Huilan, you have a daughter? How come I've never heard you mention her before?" Liu Hui asked in confusion.
"What's there to say?" Tang Huilan glared at him.
Tan Ling walked over to Miao Yin, picked up a lacquered fan from the ground, and fanned herself with it: "Sister Yin, it seems that your family relationships aren't very harmonious. What do you think? Should we get rid of them?"
Tang Huilan was about to say something, but paused when she saw the blue badge pinned to the other person's neck.
Only then did she spare a glance at the group of people surrounding her daughter. They were all extraordinary in appearance, impeccably dressed, and a few of them clearly possessed supernatural abilities.
This must be a very strong team of superpowered individuals. In every respect, they seem to have a much brighter future than the dilapidated theater she's currently in.
Without much thought, she adjusted her attitude.
“I was unlucky in love and he even took my child away from me. He hasn’t let me see him for over 20 years. Wouldn’t it just make me sad to talk about it?”
"Uh..." But that's not what you said just now.
Liu Hui swallowed the rest of his sentence and didn't say it directly.
"Yinyin, Mom has missed you so much, I dream about you all the time. I never thought that we, mother and daughter, would be reunited one day." Tang Huilan stepped forward to grab Miao Yin's hand, but the other woman dodged her. She paused for a moment, then stood there crying and expressing her heartache, her eyes glistening with tears.
"Heh." Tu Hao chuckled from the side. Now he knew where Miao Yin's dramatic flair came from.
Miao Yin coldly scrutinized Tang Huilan, but her smile remained unchanged: "I never thought I would see you alive again. How have you been all these years?"
Upon hearing this, Tang Huilan thought things had taken a turn for the better, and lowered her head in sorrow, saying, "It's not that good. Your father betrayed my true feelings back then, leaving me all alone outside. He hasn't cared about me for all these years, and I haven't even seen my only biological child. Alas..."
"But it's okay, at least we're still alive. Heaven helps those who help themselves, and we've finally reunited." She wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes with her sleeve, but the cuff got stained with foundation.
Miao Yin said, "It seems you really miss me. That's touching. Compared to you, my life is much better. Although I've been ignored and suppressed all these years, I've lived a life of luxury. Even in the apocalypse, I've never neglected myself. I eat and live in the best conditions. It's nothing like your suffering."
Tang Huilan's eyes lit up: "Yinyin, where are you living now? Let Mom go see where you're staying."
"What, you want to experience it too?" Miao Yin seemed to have seen through her thoughts.
"Not really..." she chuckled. "It's just that we've reunited, so Mom wanted to see how you're doing and get to know you better."
"I see."
Miao Yin readily gave the other party the address of the small courtyard.
Upon hearing the name, Tang Huilan immediately recognized the place. Her tone was a mixture of shock and envy: "You actually live in that courtyard? That's a wonderful place! There aren't many houses in the entire Yuecheng that are as nice as that. It used to be where the rich lived. My precious daughter is living a really good life."
"Sister Huilan, that's enough," Liu Hui whispered a reminder.
The other party's intentions were too obvious; everyone present could see them.
It's shameful to even think about climbing up to a kid you abandoned long ago in the apocalypse, but who now has a bright future.
"What do you mean, 'enough is enough'? I'm catching up with my daughter, what business is it of yours?" Tang Huilan rolled her eyes at him, as if he were some kind of enemy hindering her from achieving wealth and glory.
"Take care." Tang Shi, having dealt with the dispute, appeared from backstage. He first saw off the man who had caused trouble before returning to the front of the stage. "Why is everyone gathered here?"
"Little boss..." Xi Xi looked at her for help.
"Come here, Yinyin, let me introduce you. This is your cousin." Tang Huilan pulled her over and introduced her to Miao Yin.
"What?" Tang Shi asked, puzzled.
"Ah Shi, this is my daughter, Miao Yin, the child who was taken away from me years ago. Today we are reunited. Quickly call her 'sister'!"
"Sister?" Tang Shi was full of questions, not understanding why he had come back with a relative after only dealing with a customer complaint.
Upon closer inspection, wasn't this the young lady she had met after helping her up that day? Unbelievable!
"Auntie, you must have made a mistake..."
"What nonsense are you talking about? How could I mistake my own daughter!" Tang Huilan said irritably.
Tang Shi's expression turned troubled. She knew best how difficult and wicked her aunt was.
“She’s not mistaken, we really are mother and daughter. I never thought I’d recognize two relatives today.” Miao Yin clapped her hands, her tone revealing neither joy nor anger.
"Really?" Tang Shi exclaimed in shock. She suddenly had a cousin, and looking at the large group of people around her, her mind went blank for a moment, unable to process what was happening.
Tang Huilan patted her hand and said earnestly, "Your cousin is obviously a remarkable person. She even lives in that big courtyard on the west side. You should take good care of your cousin in the future. We are all family and should look after each other."
Tang Shi waved her hands repeatedly: "No need, no need, little aunt, I have hands and feet, and such a big theater. I don't need my sister to take care of me. We can live very well on our own, right, everyone? Besides, what kind of logic is it for a younger sister to take care of her older sister?"
Besides, she and this younger sister had never met before. She was trying to climb the social ladder right away. What if she angered these people with superpowers? Tang Shi just wanted to run her theater peacefully and had no other thoughts.
"Yes."
"Correct."
"We can earn quite a bit by performing in plays."
The actors behind her echoed her sentiments.
Miao Yin saw everything.
Tang Shi and her mother are completely different types of people. Despite being together for so long, she hasn't been corrupted at all. It seems that her family of origin really raised her to be very upright.
Upon closer reflection, Tang Shi's previous life's diary never mentioned that he had an aunt; it mostly recorded things that happened in the theater.
Tang Huilan gave her a disappointed look, then said to Miao Yin, "Don't listen to their nonsense. These people are so obsessed with acting. How can we, as a family, not associate with each other?"
“I think my cousin makes sense,” Miao Yin suddenly said sternly, her gentle expression vanishing.
"I think you just want to climb the social ladder now that I've made it big, right? What, after all these years of ignoring me, you want me to acknowledge you as family after just a few words? The dirty deeds you've done have made me unable to hold my head up for so many years, and you still want to follow my team? Let me warn you, my team has partnerships with the base. Forget about living in such high-end courtyards, we have more supplies than we can use, we don't need to live like you, dependent on others."
Her arrogant words caught everyone off guard, and Tang Huilan's expression changed repeatedly, from shock to annoyance, scheming and flattery.
"Voice..."
"Stop talking nonsense, let's go." Miao Yin interrupted her insincere words and turned to leave.
Seeing the captain suddenly lose his temper and leave, the others behind him waved and followed him out of the theater, leaving behind a group of theater staff looking at each other in bewilderment.
Tang Shi shook his head and sighed, "Auntie, you... sigh."
The actors all avoided eye contact, but a closer look revealed their disdain for her.
Tang Huilan looked guilty, but still raised her voice and said, "It's all your fault. You didn't even try to coax her. Are you satisfied now that you've made my daughter and me unhappy? If Miao Yin really ignores me in the future, I'll settle accounts with you."
After saying that, she stormed off.
