Chapter 27 Sunday Mall - The End
Chapter 27 Sunday Mall - The End
The two quickly tied the rope. Yan Shuzhou had never done anything like this before and was obviously a little nervous.
"Don't overthink it. There won't be any danger if you follow my instructions. Just do whatever I tell you, and especially don't pull the rope randomly," Miao Yin reassured her.
"Hmm." Yan Shuzhou took a deep breath, encouraging himself.
The two of them went down through the broken window together, without stopping at all.
The climbing rope can adjust the descent speed, preventing them from going so fast that they can't stop in time.
An endless expanse of red clouds painted the evening sky, casting a magnificent hue upon the earth. Just as Miao Yin had predicted, the mutated people gathered on the side of the explosion saw their prey outside the window and rushed over in a frightened manner.
"Speed up," Miao Yin commanded.
Yan Shuzhou hurriedly let go and slid down quickly.
Miao Yin was a step slower than him; the blazing flames reached the mutants before they could rush out.
The power of the fire, fed by the crystal core, increased greatly. Charred corpses fell from the sky, and even those few that survived the burn were smashed to pieces on the ground by gravity.
"Yan Shuzhou, slow down."
With only one floor to go, Miao Yin gradually tightened the climbing rope and stood on the ground unharmed.
Yan Shuzhou didn't have her skill. Even though she had obediently slowed down, she still stumbled and sat on the ground when she landed, falling painfully.
Miao Yin shook her head.
If Xiao Pa Cai's powers aren't as useful as she expected, she'll kill him when she gets back.
While Yan Shuzhou got up, Miao Yin observed the surrounding environment.
Perhaps because it wasn't completely dark yet, the mutants hadn't fully become active. Even though they were attracted by the explosion earlier, they didn't approach again after the sound disappeared for a long time.
She took a small knife from the Eighty-Eight Temples and handed it to Yan Shuzhou.
"See those deformed...monsters on the ground? Pry open their heads, and if you see anything that looks like a gem, dig it out."
Yan Shuzhou took the knife with trembling hands, looked at the monster on the ground, and asked with some fear, "Are they really dead?"
Miao Yin hummed in agreement: "Don't worry, come to me if anything happens."
Yan Shuzhou dared not disobey, so he mustered his courage, overcame his body's resistance, and walked toward them.
Only then did Miao Yin go to find Xiao Nu, the person who had been blown away.
Across from the mall was an office building. Ren Xiaonu crashed into the wall and fell down hard. When Miao Yin found it, it had only one of its six arms left, and its three heads were broken off, crookedly connected to its body.
Seeing its enemy approaching, its few surviving eyes stared intently at her, their crimson light swirling with a murderous desire.
"If you were a rose quartz crystal, you would definitely be in my belly by now. What a pity."
"Roar..." Ren Xiaonu roared angrily, the damaged parts of his body writhing and beginning to grow tumors.
The yellow crystal-level distortion greatly enhances all its functions, including its healing ability. If you let it lie here for half a day, it can recover to its pre-explosion state.
But Miao Yin won't give it that chance.
The flames coiled around it, and the terrible corrosiveness and high temperature set the deformed man ablaze. He howled in agony in the flames, waving his only remaining hand, and the scorching smell of burning flesh spread through the street.
Miao Yin sat on a pebble, her long, slender, snow-white legs crossed, quietly watching it struggle.
The embers burned out only after the fire died down, leaving behind a black lump of charcoal.
Miao Yin drew her broadsword and slashed fiercely at its three heads. The charred, deformed human's bones were brittle and were easily cut open. Finally, she found the crystal core inside the middle head.
The moment the blade touched the crystal core, the coke suddenly twitched.
"Hmm? It can still move."
Its vitality is truly tenacious. If it were someone who didn't know how to mine crystal cores, they would definitely have been tricked by it and then chased to their death.
But now it's impossible. The golden crystal core has been unearthed, and the once-powerful Crimson Calamity Man, Xiao Nu, is completely dead.
The crystal core was absorbed into the Eighty-Eight Temples, and a powerful force surged into the body, filling it with supernatural abilities.
Digestion takes time, and the more powerful the crystal nucleus, the longer it takes.
When Miao Yin returned, Yan Shuzhou was still diligently prying open a skull, with a rabbit working alongside him.
It sat obediently next to Yan Shuzhou, waiting for its owner to lift the bones. The palm-sized rabbit stretched out its two pink front paws and painstakingly searched for things inside the deformed man's body. Then it shook its little head at its owner to indicate that there was nothing there.
"How many have you found?" Miao Yin asked.
Yan Shuzhou then noticed that she had returned, and took out two green crystal cores from his pocket and handed them to her, saying somewhat nervously, "These are all we found."
The crystal core disappeared the moment it touched her palm. Miao Yin asked, "How many are left?"
"Three or four, I suppose." Yan Shuzhou observed her expression and was relieved to see that she showed no displeasure.
"Keep going, we'll leave once we're done." With that, Miao Yin released the car, comfortably lay back in the chair, and became the hands-off manager.
She was exhausted from running around all day, so she left the rest of the work to her younger brother.
Yan Shuzhou glanced at the car in surprise, then continued working with the rabbit.
When only a sliver of sunset remained on the horizon and darkness gradually enveloped the earth, the little rabbit, with its dirty paws, picked up a green gem and handed it to him.
Yan Shuzhou took the crystal core, patted its head as a reward, and the pink rabbit jumped into its master's arms with a "whimper," rubbed against his collar, and then disappeared.
"Get in the car." Miao Yin rolled down the car window.
Yan Shuzhou sat in the passenger seat and handed her the crystal core.
Miao Yin accepted the crystal core and turned the key to start the car.
The distortion is about to begin, and the way back will be even more troublesome than the way we came.
"Hold on tight, or you'll get thrown out."
Miao Yin kindly offered a reminder, then floored the accelerator, and the car shot off like an arrow, the engine roaring.
Yan Shuzhou was slammed against the back of the seat by the huge inertia. In his panic, he managed to fasten his seatbelt, and then he was tossed around by various sharp turns, occasionally getting face-to-face with the deformed people that crashed into him.
Miao Yin laughed maniacally and excitedly to the side, even complaining that the car wasn't going fast enough.
When the car stopped, Yan Shuzhou practically tumbled out of it and then lay down by the bushes to vomit.
Fortunately, he had been starving and couldn't vomit anything, but he was extremely dizzy, nauseous, and felt terrible all over; his face even turned pale.
"Yan Shuzhou, you can't do this. Speeding around during the apocalypse is very common. You need to get used to this speed, or you'll get eaten." Miao Yin, still brimming with excitement, completely shed her gentle older sister facade and revealed her wicked nature.
