Chapter 84 Poison Apple
Chapter 84 Poison Apple
Qiao Xiao returned to the dark room. She tiptoed to the magic mirror and gently tapped the mirror surface with her finger.
"Magic mirror, magic mirror, wake up! I have something important to ask you."
The magic mirror didn't react. Qiao Xiao frowned and pounded on the mirror harder.
"Magic Mirror! Wake up!"
Finally, the magic mirror spoke: "What is it, my queen?"
Qiao Xiao took a deep breath and solemnly asked, "Magic mirror, magic mirror, who is the fairest of them all?"
The magic mirror remained silent for a moment, seemingly speechless at the question.
Qiao Xiao waited for a while, and seeing that the magic mirror did not answer, she guessed, "Do you need a drop of medicine?"
As she spoke, she took out the glass bottle filled with red liquid that Spartz had given her from her pocket, carefully opened the cap, pointed the bottle at the surface of the magic mirror, and dripped a drop of the potion.
"Can you tell me the answer now?" Qiao Xiao looked at the magic mirror expectantly.
The magic mirror sighed helplessly and said, "Alas, my queen, do you want me to answer the question, or do you want me to repeat what you taught me?"
It inwardly groaned; it had always taken from others honestly, and this was truly an insult to its dignity. After all, it was an omnipotent and omniscient magic mirror that had survived to this day through its own strength.
Qiao Xiao: "You decide what to do."
The Magic Mirror gave a wry smile, its tone full of helplessness, and said, "Very well, Your Majesty, I will answer your question now. Prince Spartz is indeed the most beautiful woman in the world."
Qiao Xiao nodded in satisfaction and then said, "Alright, now you can tell me how to make a poisoned apple."
The magic mirror finally lit up, and it excitedly exclaimed, "Great! Your Majesty, you've finally asked me a question of value!"
Seeing Qiao Xiao's hands about to spill the liquid, the Magic Mirror quickly stopped her, saying, "No, no, no, you don't need to pour anymore. This time it's free."
The magic mirror shimmered excitedly on its surface: "I'm so happy to be able to help you. Let me use my omniscient mind to show you how to make the poisoned apple. Let me see... Hmm, first, you'll need to collect a hemlock stalk, a datura stalk, four spider legs, a little blue flower powder, and two drops of scorpion saliva..."
Qiao Xiao listened attentively, nodding occasionally to show her understanding.
The magic mirror continued, "Then, mix these materials together to produce a potent poison. Next, simply apply this poison evenly to the apple, forming a thin coating. That's how a deadly poisoned apple is made. Anyone who takes a single bite will immediately fall into a coma or even die."
Qiao Xiao's lips curled up slightly, revealing a smile. She seemed to have already imagined the scene after Snow White ate the poisoned apple.
Qiao Xiao smiled with delight and said, "That's great! Finally, we have a way to deal with the prince."
The magic mirror clicked, and asked with a puzzled look, "You're doing this to murder the prince, why?"
Qiao Xiao's lips curled up, and she said with a hint of jealousy, "Didn't you say he's the most beautiful woman in the world? That's why I'm jealous of him."
The magic mirror said incredulously, "Are you kidding me? If you are dissatisfied with his beauty, given his infatuation with you, he could easily disfigure himself to satisfy your needs."
Clearly, the magic mirror didn't believe Qiao Xiao's reasoning. Its soul was about to leap out of the mirror's surface to question, "What exactly is your purpose in doing this?"
How could it possibly believe that? After all, the Queen herself had told it, and forced it to say, "Snow White is the most beautiful woman in the world!"
It even suspected at one point that this was a farce of flirting between Prince Schertz and her.
Qiao Xiao sighed helplessly, then replied in a cold tone, "The King is the King, alright?"
She silently thought to herself: I am the one who poisoned Snow White, you ignorant magic mirror.
The magic mirror suddenly realized and quickly said, "So that's how it is, Your Majesty. But what you're doing is too risky. The King may not believe you, and he may not be fooled."
Qiao Xiao coldly replied, "You don't need to worry about other things. I have my own plans and arrangements."
After saying that, she turned and left indifferently, leaving the magic mirror alone in the dark room.
The magic mirror's surface shimmered with light, flashing like the quick-press button of a spotlight.
It complained loudly, "You are such a strange queen! I was only concerned for your safety! I hope you can respect this mirror, after all, I am an all-powerful and all-knowing magic mirror!"
The Magic Mirror's complaints went unanswered, and the room fell into a deathly silence.
After leaving Shi Bozi's palace, Qiao Xiao originally planned to continue to other places.
But just then, Daisy suddenly came running from a distance, looking flustered.
She clutched her maid's skirt tightly with one hand, panting as she cried out, "Oh no, Your Majesty! Something has happened to His Highness the Prince!"
Upon hearing this news, Qiao Xiao's face instantly turned ashen. She asked with concern, "What? What happened?"
Daisy said anxiously, "The king just announced at the city gate that Prince Spartz has been assassinated, and he also said that according to the evidence, it was you who committed all of this."
Upon hearing this, Qiao Xiao's pupils suddenly contracted. How could she possibly plot to murder Shi Bozi? This was an accusation that was utterly absurd.
Just then, a group of orthodox knights in armor quickly surrounded Qiao Xiao.
They looked at her seriously, and one of them spoke up: “Your Majesty, the King has ordered us to take you to his palace.”
Upon seeing this, Daisy was immediately horrified. She grabbed Qiao Xiao's arm tightly, her voice trembling with tears, "Your Majesty, what should I do? Where are they taking you?"
Qiao Xiao took a deep breath, looked at Daisy with a firm gaze, and said softly, "Don't be afraid, Daisy, I'll be alright."
She gently patted Daisy's hand, hoping to ease her fear.
Then, Qiao Xiao straightened up, raised her head, and calmly faced the tall and mighty knights.
Her eyes were firm, and she would not easily yield to anyone or anything.
Qiao Xiao knew perfectly well that she absolutely could not panic now. She needed to remain calm, think of a solution, and ensure her own safety.
Qiao Xiao: "Don't worry, Daisy. His Majesty the King won't harm us now. Go find Marygard first and tell her what happened. I'll figure out a way to solve this."
After she finished speaking, she was roughly dragged away by the knights.
Daisy watched Qiao Xiao's departing figure, tears blurring her vision.
She cried out, "Queen!"
But Qiao Xiao had already disappeared at the end of the corridor, leaving Daisy alone to face the unknown fear.
Upon arriving at the king's palace, Qiao Xiao looked up at the high throne, where a fat man sat, dressed in magnificent clothes and wearing a crown, coldly looking down at her.
Qiao Xiao sighed inwardly. This king was too fat. She really didn't know how he managed to sit on that chair.
She stepped forward, curtsied slightly, and said, "Your Majesty, what brings you here?"
The king sneered, "Hmph, what is it? You plotted to murder the prince, what is your punishment?"
Qiao Xiao said innocently, "I don't understand what you're saying."
The king's eyes widened in fury, and he roared, "Don't play dumb! We have already executed that knight, and if you still don't confess, you will be executed just like him!"
Qiao Xiao's heart skipped a beat, but she remained calm and sneered, "Oh? Are you trying to force a confession?"
Upon hearing this, the ministers and attendants beside the king were so enraged that they jumped up and down, pointing at Qiao Xiao and cursing:
"You arrogant and ignorant woman, how dare you speak to the king like that! Do you know the enormity of your crime?"
Qiao Xiao raised the corners of her mouth slightly, revealing a disdainful smile. Her beautiful eyes were as deep as a still pool, exuding a hint of coldness.
She stared coldly at the king, her eyes filled with contempt and provocation, and slowly said, "So what if he's the king? Does being the king give him the right to wrong innocent people at will?"
Qiao Xiao's smile remained unchanged, but her eyes grew colder as she continued, "Of course, the real king and I don't share this attitude. Unfortunately, the one standing before me is a fake king."
Upon hearing this, Tuo and Guan's eyes widened as if their secret had been exposed. They exchanged a glance.
They instantly realized that the Queen and the Prince had known their identities all along.
Guan immediately roared, "How dare you! How dare you spout such nonsense! Are you out of your mind? How dare you slander me, saying I am a fake king, and even try to assassinate me!"
Toh, standing nearby, chimed in, "Your Majesty, this queen must be insane. Please order her to be imprisoned immediately to prevent her from continuing her madness and harming people."
Upon hearing this, the king's face turned extremely ugly, as if he had been greatly insulted.
He angrily pointed at Qiao Xiao and ordered the knights around him: "Quickly lock the Queen in her palace. She is not to be allowed to come out without my permission, nor is she to have any contact with anyone!"
Qiao Xiao remained unmoved by the king's words, calmly observing the menacing-looking people before her.
Her eyes were always looking upwards, completely ignoring them, and she never looked up.
Before leaving, Qiao Xiao smiled slightly and said with a hint of sarcasm, "I hope your noble head can still rest peacefully on your body, Your Majesty."
After saying that, she turned and left, leaving everyone stunned.
She really does seem like a madwoman.
Guan complained to Tuo in a tone of accusation, "She's simply a crazy woman, what a waste of her beautiful face."
Tuo looked helpless and angrily scolded, "What time is it? You're still staring at her face? Can't you be a little more rational and mind your own business!"
Guan replied, looking aggrieved, "But she really is beautiful, Tuo."
Tuo shook his head and sighed deeply.
……
Daisy and Marigold are discussing how to save the Queen.
Daisy said anxiously, "The Queen is locked in the palace, and none of us can get in. What should we do?"
Marigold frowned, thought for a moment, and then said, "Daisy, I don't have enough magical power right now to give the Queen my beard."
"But I have another way. I heard that if you collect just one drop of dew at dawn, you can make a potion that can change your appearance. Then the queen can escape."
Daisy clapped her hands happily and said, "Great, Marigold, I'll go collect dew tomorrow morning."
Marigold nodded in agreement. The two decided to act together the next morning, hoping to successfully rescue the Queen.
