Chapter 38 The Rake Combination
Chapter 38 The Rake Combination
Upon hearing the words "there's a way," all six ears seemed to have an idea, stopped what they were doing, and turned their eyes to Wenwen.
Most afraid of the air suddenly quiet.
Wenwen looked at the three people in front of her, hesitant to speak, her eyes filled with doubt.
She didn't keep anyone in suspense, nodding firmly and repeating, "I have a way, really."
Wen Qikang was the first to break the silence, "Not even one?"
"Never give up."
Wen Chengbin scratched his head and asked quietly, "Take them all?"
"All."
Wen Chengjian scrutinized Wenwen for a while before cautiously asking, "Is it harmful to your health?"
Wenwen: ?
Hmm? What's the problem? Is my brother worried about me?
It's confirmed. Wen Chengjian was indeed very worried about his sister's health. She's recovered now, but he's afraid that these wild game sprees might cause her to fall ill again, which would be a huge blow to the family.
Wenwen felt a warmth in her heart as she sensed her brother's worry. She hugged his arm and shook it, saying, "Don't worry, brother, it won't do any harm."
"Oh, that's good. Just tell us what you need us to do."
As soon as Wen Chengjian finished speaking, everyone looked ready for battle.
This amused Wenwen. "No need to be like that, don't be nervous, relax."
Now that things were out in the open, Wenwen let her guard down.
She pointed to the pile of fruit and asked, "Third Uncle, did anyone come over here just now? Did anyone notice these fruits?"
"No one came over here. I heard people talking in the distance, but the voices were very far away, so it's probably quite a distance."
"Have you been guarding this place the whole time?"
"Yeah, I didn't leave this tree. I just walked around it, looked around, saw other fruit trees, but didn't go over, just glanced at them from afar."
Upon hearing this, Wenwen realized there were other fruit trees nearby, and she couldn't let that pass by. She immediately went off-topic, asking, "What other fruit trees? Where are they? Are they far?"
Wen Qikang had only mentioned it casually, but this question caught him off guard. Why was he asking about this? He pointed to the left and said, "It's probably a peach tree. I reckon it's not far away."
"It's not far, let's go take a look in a bit."
Wen Chengjian and Wen Chengbin grew anxious as they listened to the uncle and nephew rambling on and on.
Wen Chengjian pointed at the fruit and game, weakly reminding, "Sister, these, and these too."
Wenwen chuckled awkwardly and touched her nose. "Oh, I almost forgot, hehehe."
She asked cautiously, "Big brother, second brother, can you sense someone approaching nearby?"
The eldest and second eldest brothers, looking extremely cautious, used their experience as frontline scouts to conduct a thorough reconnaissance.
"Not at the moment, what do you want to do?"
Wenwen thought to herself that it was good to be cautious. Her family's lives were still in other people's hands, so it was better to keep a low profile.
Wenwen looked around, and with a thought, the fruit and wild animals vanished. Only a small pile of fruit and a few scattered pheasants and rabbits remained.
The three stared at the thing that had vanished into thin air.
Their faces were all different, and although they had expected it, their hearts were still bubbling like boiling water.
Wenwen understood her family's surprise, but she thought that they would get used to it after experiencing it more.
She answered her family's various questions with a calm expression.
Wen Chengbin's voice trembled, "Sister, is this...just like that?"
"that is it."
Wen Chengjian asked worriedly, "Sister, are you feeling unwell anywhere?"
"I'm very good."
Wen Qikang went even further, walking to the spot where the fruit had been placed, gritting his teeth and stomping on it a few times, shouting, "Wen'er, Uncle's foot slipped! It slipped!"
"Third Uncle, didn't I leave some? I'm too busy, too busy."
Wen Chengbin interrupted the casserole and continued to ask, "Little sister, why didn't you help share the load just now? You have no idea how tired my brother and I were carrying it all the way, and how much it took us to walk."
"If I accept it first, my third uncle won't be able to see your great achievements."
"That's true, it will certainly shock Uncle San."
"Third Uncle, what do you think? Are we a good match?"
"I'm really shocked. You two brats, save my clothes first."
Wen Qikang was not only troubled by the problem of clothing, but he also felt very aggrieved.
"Wen'er, since you can, since you can accept it, why didn't you accept it in the first place? Why didn't you take me to the chicken camp?"
Wen Chengjian clicked his tongue in disdain, "Third Uncle, you're too noisy. I'm afraid you'll scare the chicks."
Wenwen pondered for a moment, then tried to persuade her, "If I take you there, who will distribute the fruit? Look around, who here has the patience to pick and choose the piles?"
Wen Qikang was comforted, "That's right, I'm the one who has to do this kind of work, you guys don't have the patience."
"That's right, that's right, Uncle San is very thoughtful."
"Alright, from now on, Uncle will handle these kinds of jobs. Don't worry, Uncle will definitely do a good job."
"Okay, we won't fight with Uncle San."
Wen Qikang, eager to make a request, said, "Wen'er, when you come out in the future, remember to call your third uncle."
Wenwen felt that her third uncle was forcing her into a relationship, but she didn't mind.
He looked at his older brother and the others.
Wen Chengjian and Wen Chengbin agreed in unison: "Okay, we'll do these things together from now on."
Wenwen burst into laughter inwardly; the Wen family's "husband-and-wife team" was now formed.
Wen Chengbin picked up the remaining fruit and game from the ground; he could carry all of that by himself.
A little puzzled: "Little sister, why are you keeping these?"
Wen Qikang flicked his forehead across the head from afar, somewhat exasperated, "Silly boy, if we turn back now and come back empty-handed, what if we run into someone? People will laugh at the Wen family. You're all talk and no action, you're not even as smart as Wen'er."
Wen Qikang turned his head and asked, "Is that so, Wen'er?"
Wenwen covered her mouth and chuckled, "Third Uncle is right. Third Uncle, let's go see the peach tree you mentioned, and then we'll go back after we've picked some."
"Okay, over here."
Wen Qikang led the three of them not far, through a patch of grass as tall as a person, and a wild peach grove appeared before them.
This peach orchard has about twenty or thirty trees, and the trees aren't very tall. The peaches on the sunny side are big and red, while those on the shady side are small and not yet ripe.
Needless to say, the group headed straight for the large peach.
With everyone working together, the peaches were harvested in no time.
Walking back along the peach grove, we passed a few persimmon trees and looted them.
As I passed by a few apple trees, the apples were small and green.
The group had a disagreement.
Wen Chengjian said disdainfully, "These fruits are sour and astringent, and too small. Let's not pick them."
Adhering to the principle of not leaving empty-handed, Wenwen said, "Picking them, their sourness and astringency are just right to cut through the greasiness."
Cut through the grease!
These three words successfully stunned the other three people.
On the road to exile, even food and clothing are a problem, so where would one find grease? Why would one need to cleanse oneself? It's simply absurd.
Ignoring their objections, Wenwen climbed the tree like a monkey and shook it.
The people under the tree couldn't refuse him, so they diligently helped him.
Wen Chengbin picked up the apples, grumbling, "Who would eat this junk?"
Wenwen wouldn't tolerate this. "Second brother, the teacher said, 'You can't judge a book by its cover, you can't measure the sea with a bushel, and you can't underestimate anything.' Don't forget that you're not taking the steamed buns seriously."
Wen Chengjian kicked him, "Hurry up and check, you're talking too much nonsense."
After this crop is harvested.
Wen Chengjian glanced at the sky and said, "It's about time, let's hurry back."
Wenwen suggested at the right moment, "Big brother, I just saw that there's a small river not far away. Let's go there to process the wild game, and then we can roast it when we get back. It won't take long, okay? Third Uncle, what do you say?"
My third uncle is an elder, so everyone will give him some face.
"Okay, once we're done, let's hurry back."
