367. Escaping the Huang Mansion 33
The bearded man stepped into the mud puddle again and began to complain once more: "With this heavy rain, where are we supposed to find someone? They've probably already run off to town!"
The tall, thin man sighed and said to the bearded man, "Stop complaining and hurry up and look for her. If we can't find the young lady, we'll all be punished."
"They ran away. How convenient, leaving us here to search for them!" The bearded man didn't seem to care about the tall, thin man's efforts to find them. He continued to complain, "Even that mill boy ran away. If I'd known it would be this easy to escape today, I would have run away long ago."
“Running away might not be better than staying in the manor,” the tall, thin man sighed. “Last time I went out to buy supplies, I heard that there was a fierce battle going on outside. I’m afraid Sunset Town is about to change hands.”
“If that’s what you’re saying, then it seems better to stay at the manor.” The bearded man also began to think. “At least we have a place to live at the manor. We don’t know if Sunset Town will change hands. If it does, we don’t know what the new owner will be like.”
"Let's look carefully, or we might be punished if we can't find it." The tall, thin man used his height to look around in the woods, but unfortunately the rain was too heavy and everything was a white blur. He also had to be careful of the mud under his feet to avoid getting stuck and tripping.
As the two approached, Huang Muyan, Mu Wanqing, and Mu Baiyuan, who were hiding in the nearby bushes, all felt their hearts leap into their throats, but they remained calm and did not rush to leave.
Seeing that the two people had their backs to them, Huang Muyan quickly moved her feet slowly, leading Mu Wanqing and Mu Baiyuan away from the two people.
Just then, voices came from behind, startling Huang Muyan. She hugged Mu Baiyuan and Mu Wanqing tightly, straining her ears to listen to what the two people who had come looking for them were saying.
"What the hell? Where did they go?" the bearded man complained, looking around and digging at every possible hiding place—breaking off a branch or pulling apart bushes.
However, there are no Tibetans in these places.
"What the hell? Where did it go?" The bearded man wiped the water from his face, struggling to open his eyes so he could see things in the distance through the heavy, white rain.
After looking for a while, the impatient bearded man lost interest and started complaining again: "It's raining so hard and you want us to go find someone? Are you kidding me?"
The tall, thin man also wiped the water off his face. The rain was getting heavier and heavier, hitting his face so hard he couldn't open his eyes.
The rustling of raindrops on the leaves, the crackling of raindrops on the stones, and the howling of the wind that accompanied the downpour through the woods all drowned out the sound of Huang Muyan and her companions' slow footsteps.
"How far are we from them now?" Huang Muyan asked, leaning close to Mu Wanqing's ear.
"I can't hear very well anymore," Mu Wanqing patted her ears to let the rainwater flow out so she could hear the sounds around her clearly. "They should be far away by now."
Hearing Mu Wanqing say this, Mu Baiyuan peeked out from under Huang Muyan's cloak, turned around, and looked in the direction they were coming from. He squinted and looked carefully, and could only see two tiny figures standing in the white rain.
"They have indeed gone far, but I can still see them." Mu Baiyuan hurriedly squatted down, lying on the ground with his hands and feet together. "Let's be careful and not get discovered."
