Chapter 171 One Week Later
Chapter 171 One Week Later
A week later, Lu Renkui and Zhao Wuyin, who were inside Sun Xi's body, went to find David as promised.
When Zhao Wuyin reached the rusty iron door in the basement of that secluded teaching building, the door opened before he could even knock.
This time, the little robot opened the door; it was the same little robot that had been in the kitchen before.
"You're here!" A smiling face appeared on the black display screen of the small white robot, and its tone sounded cheerful.
"Wow, so cute!" Zhao Wuyin said as he squatted down to touch the little robot.
"Thank you!" The little robot happily spun around.
The two girls pushed open the door and entered the room, only to find David crouching in the corner.
"They're here?" David had already heard the voice. He turned his head and confirmed that the people who entered were Zhao Wuyin, who had paid his medical bills, and the dark brown-haired girl. He then slowly stood up, holding a skateboard in his hand, which looked very high-tech.
David was wearing a plain white hoodie today, and the dark circles under his eyes were even darker than when I saw him a few days ago, which made his skin look even more frighteningly white. His exhaustion was palpable.
"Here, take it." David's voice sounded more tired and weak than it had been a few days ago.
Seeing that David looked like he was about to die, Lu Renkui quickly took the skateboard from David's hands.
"Try it here now, I can adjust it if there are any problems." David's voice seemed to float in the air.
"Hmm... how about we try it outside first? Why don't you take a nap?" Lu Renkui looked at David's unsteady steps and felt that David was about to die at any moment.
“Yes,” Zhao Wuyin said, “you look like you haven’t slept well for days. Why don’t you take a nap first, and we’ll bring it over for you to take a look if we find anything wrong.”
“Besides, the room is only so big.” Zhao Wuyin looked around the room. “Although it’s the size of a classroom, it’s still a bit too crowded to skateboard in here.”
David thought about it and agreed. However, he was still a little uneasy—because the two people in front of him hadn't been involved in the skateboard's creation, and might not know how to describe the situation if something went wrong.
“I’ll go with you,” David said, rummaging through the closet for a mask.
"Well...why don't you stay indoors?" Lu Renkui was genuinely worried that David might accidentally die.
David's footsteps were so light they were like a ghost's, making no sound at all.
“It’s okay, I’ll go with them myself, I’m at ease.” David said, finally pulling out a black mask and then a baseball cap to put on.
Zhao Wuyin blurted out, "Why don't you stay indoors? I'm afraid you'll die from climbing the stairs later."
The next second, Lu Renkui covered Zhao Wuyin's mouth.
Why can't this kid keep his mouth shut? While it's true that telling the truth is good, saying too much is just too harsh. Lu Renkui thought to himself as he hurried to look at David.
Fortunately, David's expression didn't turn too bad, as if he had already gotten used to this kind of evaluation.
“I won’t die,” David said indifferently. “Let’s go test the skateboard.”
The three of them went outdoors and found a spacious, less crowded spot to test the skateboard.
Lu Renkui put down her skateboard and listened as David explained how to use it.
“Look, this part of the skateboard can be pulled open,” David said, demonstrating as he spoke.
Sure enough, the left side of the skateboard, which was raised, opened up, revealing a row of small buttons of different colors and a very small display screen.
"Oh, oh." Lu Renkui nodded.
“Green means start recording, red means pause recording, and yellow means upload,” David said, while turning to the dark brown-haired girl in front of him. “Get your attack instrument out, and I’ll show you how to use it.”
