Chapter 123 Support
Chapter 123 Support
The days of teaching in the rural area were much more interesting than Lu Renkui had imagined.
Every day after school, the students would take "Teacher Qin" for a walk in the mountains.
Every time I go to look for it, I always make some new discoveries: another tree has sprouted new buds, and there are more small fish in the water.
If Lu Renkui visits the students' homes, the students will warmly invite their "Teacher Qin" to stay for a meal.
Of course, Lu Ren-kui would refuse, saying that the school has a cafeteria.
During this time, Lu Renkui also made a video call with Qin Men's parents, and Lu Renkui fooled Qin Men's parents with his acting skills.
Lu Renkui would also open a video call when Jiang Qiuyue was free, and take Jiang Qiuyue for a cyber tourism trip on the mountain—something the original owner would do.
There aren't many entertainment options in the small mountain village, but walking around the mountain every day can help pass the time, so Lu Renkui doesn't feel that bored.
Moreover, over the past few days, Lu Renkui felt that the volunteer teaching program had greatly washed away his previous stereotypes about mountain villages.
With the strong support of the government, the classrooms now have electronic screens, and although the desks and chairs are a bit old, they are of good quality.
The students expressed their thoughts in class, and they also had many lofty ideals: quite a few wanted to become doctors, teachers, or soldiers.
Lu Renkui would chat with the elderly people who had lived in the mountain village for many years. Although he couldn't understand half of the language they spoke, he could still guess and make up the general idea.
Lu Renkui would sometimes chat with the teachers who had been teaching in this place for several years, especially the elderly Teacher Wei.
Teacher Wei recalls the muddy roads on rainy days and the classrooms that were often without water and electricity.
Then Lu Renkui would hear the older teachers sigh, saying that the government had now built cement roads and connected the school to water and electricity.
"You've been fortunate to live in such a good era!" Teacher Wei exclaimed, gazing at the endless mountains outside the window.
Lu Renkui was also quite moved, as her task progress had increased significantly in the past few days.
Lu Renkui shared her teaching experience online—using the Qinmen account—and received some likes and comments. To Lu Renkui's surprise, she actually had followers.
Lu Renkui's days as a volunteer teacher were uneventful. Apart from occasionally having to unpack thousands of packages to distribute cotton-padded clothes to the students, he felt fine.
Then, on the day before the end of this short-term teaching stint, during a phone call between Lu Renkui and Qin Men's mother, Qin Men's mother suddenly brought up Luo Yingying: "Do you still remember Luo Yingying, the one you got along with so well?"
"I remember, Mom, what happened to her?" Lu Renkui asked. Because the original owner didn't tell her parents that she was a lesbian, her parents always thought that the original owner was just good friends with Luo Yingying.
"It's nothing. Why did you two suddenly break up?" Qin's mother asked.
“If our values don’t align, we’ll break off the friendship,” Lu Renkui replied.
"Oh, then I have something to tell you," Qin's mother said. "Luo Yingying was in a car accident."
Lu Renkui was stunned.
"She was seriously injured in the car accident," Qin's mother said. "It seems they even said she might need an amputation."
When Lu Renkui heard this, she gasped – she knew that without Qin Men's replacement, Luo Yingying might be in a car accident, but she didn't expect the accident to be so quick and so serious! She was almost in need of amputation.
"And then?" Lu Renkui asked—Qin's mother generally didn't interfere with the Qin family's friendships, unless the person didn't seem like a good person.
Therefore, there must be something wrong with Qin's mother suddenly mentioning Luo Yingying.
"Luo Yingying somehow got our phone number and said she was in a car accident and hopes you can go see her," Qin's mother said.
Lu Renkui scratched his head, messing up Qin Men's short hair.
Lu Renkui then used her hands to fix her hairstyle before replying, "I'll go see her when I have time; after all, we're friends."
After managing to appease Qin's mother, Lu Renkui began to ask the system WQBYRZM in his mind: "System, does Luo Yingying's amputation have anything to do with us?"
“It’s okay. We’ve all come to the mountains to teach her, what does it have to do with us?” said System WQBYRZM.
“I don’t… never mind, I have another question,” Lu Renkui said. “After we leave this world, will the Qin Clan retain this memory?”
“You will have it,” said System WQBYRZM. “Unless the original owner wakes up early and sees us like in the previous worlds, the original owner generally doesn’t have any memories of us.”
"Because sleeping doesn't actually kill the original owner's soul. It's like watching a movie on a projector in a half-awake state, a kind of personal experience."
"Speaking of which, Qin Men slept for so long this time," Lu Renkui said.
“It might be related to the original owner herself.” System WQBYRZM said while stuffing sunflower seeds into her mouth. “In the first world, Ayaka was an ordinary person, so she was able to sleep until we completed the mission. After that, she only woke up because I didn’t put her into a deep sleep in time.”
"The second and third worlds are simply due to Maria Elisa and Borest's abnormal mental states; even if they are put into a deep sleep, they will still wake up on their own."
"In this world, Qin Men is just an ordinary person. She will sleep until we complete our mission," said System WQBYRZM. "Unless we wake her up on our own."
Upon hearing this, Lu Renkui felt relieved.
On the last day of his teaching stint, Lu Renkui had just entered the classroom when he noticed that the students seemed to be hiding something.
"What's wrong?" Lu Renkui asked.
Then the class monitor stood up and walked over, holding a bouquet of flowers in his hands.
"Teacher Qin, I heard from Teacher Wei that you are leaving today." The class monitor, a girl with a high ponytail, held up a bouquet of flowers and said, "These are flowers we picked from the mountain after finishing our homework these past few days, and we are giving them to Teacher Qin."
"Wow!" Lu Renkui's feelings were complicated, a mixture of joy and surprise.
Lu Renkui accepted the flowers and happily said thank you.
After teaching his last math class in the volunteer teaching program, Lu Renkui picked up his phone, stood on the podium, and took a group photo with his students, whose faces were still young and dark.
In short, my time teaching in the rural area has come to an end.
After taking a bus and a train, Lu Renkui finally returned to where Qinmen was located.
As soon as Lu Renkui stepped out of the station, he saw Qin Men's parents and Jiang Qiuyue.
"Welcome back." Jiang Qiuyue slowly walked up.
Then Qin Men's father said with a hint of reproach, "Next time you go to mountainous areas or something, you should tell us first. You just ran off there without saying a word. We were probably scared to death when we heard the news, you silly goose!"
"I know, I know, I know, I know," Lu Renkui said.
Qin's father snorted and took the suitcase from "Qin Men's" hands.
“I’m telling you, there are some things you should talk to your parents about first,” Qin’s mother said. “You went to the mountains without saying a word, not even knowing how dangerous it was.”
“Someone’s with me.” Lu Renkui scratched his head, his free hand in the pocket of his down jacket.
Then Lu Renkui felt his arm, which was in his pocket, being grabbed. He looked down and saw Jiang Qiuyue.
Lu Renkui glanced at it and then continued walking forward—this was quite normal; her younger sister and her friends would do this when they wanted to be affectionate.
"Luo Yingying has been admitted to the hospital." Jiang Qiuyue only told this news after Qin's parents had walked away.
“Oh, I know that. My mom just told me about it a couple of days ago,” Lu Renkui replied.
"You know she contacted your mother?" Jiang Qiuyue asked, somewhat surprised.
"Yes, that's right. Did Luo Yingying say anything else?" Lu Renkui had a guess in his mind.
Jiang Qiuyue's next words confirmed Lu Renkui's guess: "She told your mother that she and you are in a romantic relationship."
"Oh ho ho, I knew it." Lu Renkui chuckled inwardly and said, "Then it seems my parents are quite accepting of my sexuality."
Jiang Qiuyue glanced at "Qinmen" and then tightened her grip, saying, "Luo Yingying actually had a new girlfriend before you went to teach in the rural area."
“Well, okay, I don’t know that,” Lu Renkui said, “but it doesn’t really concern me anymore.”
“Yes, that’s right.” Jiang Qiuyue leaned on Qin Men’s shoulder.
"Oh, by the way, she didn't cause you any trouble, did she?" Lu Renkui asked.
Jiang Qiuyue was silent for a moment, then said, "No."
"Oh, really?" Lu Renkui said, "Then you must tell me if anything happens."
"Ah."
"Alright, let's not talk about Luo Yingying anymore. Let me tell you, when I finished teaching, those kids gave me a bunch of flowers." Lu Renkui said with a smile, then took a bag out of his backpack. The flowers inside the bag were a bit withered and yellow because they hadn't received enough nutrients.
"It's a pity that I didn't have any cups to hold the flowers on hand, and it would be too troublesome to carry a vase of flowers around while traveling, but I had no choice but to do this in order to bring them back," Lu Renkui said.
Jiang Qiuyue fiddled with the flowers inside the plastic bag, feeling both amused and exasperated.
You could imagine how beautiful those flowers were when they were first picked, but now they really look like a bird's nest.
No, a bird's nest is chaotic yet orderly, but this clump of flowers is truly just chaos.
Back home, Lu Renkui packed his things, while Jiang Qiuyue sat to the side watching "Qin Men" pack.
Then Qin Men's phone rang.
Lu Renkui picked it up and saw that it belonged to one of Qin Men's friends.
The phone rang, and a girl's voice came from the other end: "Hey, Lao Qin, you're back? Want to hang out with us tonight?"
"No thanks, I just got home," Lu Renkui refused. "My butt hurts from sitting on buses and trains all night, I don't want to go somewhere and sit there all night again."
"Tsk, you're really not coming?" the girl across from me asked.
“No, come.” Lu Renkui refused.
"Alright, fine, I'll give you a few days to get out of being a teacher." The girl on the other end of the line hung up the phone with a smile.
Lu Renkui shrugged, then turned to Jiang Qiuyue and asked, "What do you want to eat tonight?"
Jiang Qiuyue looked somewhat bewildered: "Aren't you eating at home?"
"Oh, I'm going out for hot pot with my parents tonight," Lu Renkui said. "So, should I bring you along?"
Jiang Qiuyue remained silent for a while, then nodded and said okay.
