Chapter 36 Ruins Shake Up and a New Crisis
The deafening roar of the blue beam of light colliding with the top of the ruins was like a heavy hammer blow to everyone's hearts, leaving their ears ringing. Immediately afterward, the entire ruins began to shake violently, as if a raging beast were struggling madly.
Huanmo struggled to steady himself amidst the swaying, his gaze fixed intently upwards, his heart filled with worry. If the ruins collapsed, they would likely be buried alive, all their previous efforts and the dangers they had endured would be for naught. He instinctively glanced at Wanru, only to see her face filled with terror, her body swaying violently with the shaking of the ruins. He was frantic with worry, silently vowing to protect her in this crisis.
Wanru gripped a protruding rock beside her tightly, trying to steady herself. Her heart pounded wildly, as if it would leap out of her throat. Every tremor of the ruins made her feel that death was drawing ever closer. She was terrified; images of past dangers flashed through her mind, and all she hoped for was for the shaking to stop quickly so they could escape this ordeal once more.
The man in white held a jade flute, his brow furrowed, his expression grave. He knew this sudden turn of events meant an even greater crisis was imminent. He struggled to maintain his balance amidst the swaying while pondering a solution. However, the violent shaking of the ruins had clouded his thoughts, and for a moment he couldn't come up with a good way to resolve the predicament.
Qingwan gripped the spirit pearl tightly, its light flickering erratically amidst the violent shaking. Her face grew increasingly pale, and fine beads of sweat covered her forehead. She poured all her energy into her magic, attempting to use the spirit pearl's power to stabilize the ruins, but her strength seemed so insignificant in the face of this immense catastrophe, utterly powerless to stop the ruins' turmoil.
The white tiger growled softly nearby, its blue eyes filled with vigilance and unease. It constantly adjusted its posture, trying to find a relatively safe foothold in the swaying environment, while also remaining ready to protect everyone from any potential danger.
As the ruins shook, huge cracks began to appear in the surrounding walls, and dust fell down like a waterfall, choking everyone and causing them to cough incessantly.
"Everyone be careful, this ruin may collapse!" Huanmo shouted, his voice filled with anxiety and helplessness.
Just as everyone was in a state of high tension, the metal golems that they had temporarily repelled seemed unaffected by the shaking of the ruins. They raised their blades again and, taking advantage of the chaos, pounced on the group.
Seeing this, Huanmo's heart tightened. He knew he had to deal with these puppets first; otherwise, if they had to contend with their attacks while the ruins collapsed, they would truly be doomed. He gritted his teeth, and with the help of the partial power restored by the crystal ball, charged towards the puppets.
The man in white hurriedly put the jade flute to his lips and began to play a rapid and mysterious melody, attempting to use the power of the jade flute to interfere with the puppets' actions and relieve the pressure on Huanmo.
Qingwan did her best to maintain the protective barrier of the spirit orb. Although the barrier was already teetering on the brink of collapse due to the shaking of the ruins and the attacks of the puppets, she still hoped to buy everyone even a second more for safety.
The white tiger seized the opportunity and pounced on one of the puppets again. It used its sharp claws and teeth to bite the puppet's joints, trying to disable it and create a better opportunity for Huanmo and the others to attack.
During his fight with the puppets, Huanmo noticed that their movements became somewhat sluggish in the swaying environment of the ruins, as if their mechanical structures were being affected by the instability. Seizing this opportunity, he punched one of the puppets in the head, sending it staggering back several steps before crashing heavily to the ground.
However, just as Huanmo was preparing to press his advantage, the shaking of the ruins suddenly intensified, and a huge rock fell from above, crashing straight down on Huanmo.
Huanmo was unable to dodge in time and was hit in the back by the rock. He fell forward and spat out a mouthful of blood.
"Huanmo!" Wanru screamed in terror and ran towards Huanmo without thinking.
The man in white and Qingwan, no longer able to deal with the puppet, rushed over to help.
The man in white played the jade flute while using some of his power to try to heal Huanmo's injuries, while Qingwan placed the spirit pearl on Huanmo's body, chanting incantations and casting spells to heal his wounds.
The white tiger roared angrily as it stood guard beside Huanmo, vigilantly watching the surroundings to prevent the puppets from launching another attack.
After some effort, Huanmo's injuries were somewhat relieved, but he was still very weak. He struggled to get up from the ground, looking at the still chaotic and dangerous situation before him, his heart filled with resentment.
"We can't give up like this, we must find a way to survive!" Huanmo said through gritted teeth, her eyes filled with determination.
Just then, the shaking of the ruins suddenly stopped, and a deathly silence fell. Dust filled the air, obscuring the surroundings.
Just as everyone was wondering what was going on with this sudden calm, a low humming sound came from the depths of the ruins. The sound was like the operation of some huge machine, growing louder and clearer.
