Chapter 465: The Living Volcano
Chapter 465: The Living Volcano
Like a freezing gale carrying the scent of death, the hair on the back of the nine Asuras’ necks stood on end. Their mighty frames could not repel the chill that seeped into their very marrow. This cold was not born of temperature, but of mana fluctuations that triggered the most primal instinct of every living creature: the drive to survive.
"I never imagined Furfur would be this powerful," Viggu whispered, gripping his axe so tightly his knuckles turned white. "My brain keeps screaming at me to run. It feels as if staying here until that Demon arrives is an invitation to the end of my life."
"If it were only Furfur, we might not feel this bleak. This dread also stems from the army he brings," Yagnar added, trying to analyze the situation. "That is the main legion that has been fighting the Human Alliance. Their numbers are more than millions. Though most are just fodder we could crush with a single blow, their scale is simply too massive."
"The real issue isn’t those bottom-feeders; it’s the officers Furfur brought with him. I sense at least ten Demons who are equal to, or even stronger than, a Level 6 Constellation mage over there," Cloc growled, torn between fear and an impatient itch for combat. "Not to mention Furfur himself. Moku said his power is at the level of the 8th Constellation."
"Hehehe! There are only nine of us, so at least one or two will have to face two enemies at once," Vakgar laughed, baring his fangs. He thrust a fist into the air with exploding spirit. "I don’t care about the rest of you, but Furfur is my target! No one interfere! Against a Level 8 Demon... OUR BATTLE WILL BE LEGENDARY!"
"We must ensure their army is held here. If not, they will surround us and surge toward Bitter Maja. We must make the Old Battlefield their stopping point!" Zalthu concluded firmly.
"Then, we divide our tasks," Goku issued the final order. "Vakgar and I will hold Furfur. Cloc, Yagnar, Xago, Viggu, and Olru—you take out the enemy high-ranking officers. The rest of you, keep the Demon army from breaking out of this territory!"
"Yes, Commander!" the seven other Asuras shouted. Vakgar briefly protested because Goku was interfering in his fight, but no one paid any mind to their stubborn comrade’s ramblings.
"What are you waiting for? Charge!"
"OSH!"
With a single war cry, the nine Asuras blurred forward. As they drew closer, the piercing chill intensified. The shrieks and growls of millions of Demons created a cacophony that made the once-silent forest shudder. The aura of the Demon officers felt increasingly dense; more than half of them were masters of laws.
Because their primary goal was to buy time, Goku had initially intended to open diplomacy or at least speak. Though he loathed small talk, he was willing to do it if it gave Wilwatikta more time. However, before he could even draw near, an aura of death and volcanic heat surged forward with incredible speed. A killing intent so thick it felt as if the sky itself might shatter spread across the field. Clearly, the enemy had no interest in talking.
"Hehehe... they’re quite spirited! I like it! FURFUR, WASH YOUR NECK! I’M COMING TO TAKE YOUR HEAD!" Vakgar shouted cheerfully, accelerating his pace.
Seeing the battle erupt without warning, Goku could only swallow hard and push his speed to the limit. The seven other Asuras immediately fanned out to fulfill their designated roles.
Goku watched Vakgar’s back as he streaked ahead. Though he could have overtaken him, Goku allowed Vakgar to act as the vanguard. Before them, a Demon stood tall in mid-air like a god descending from the heavens. His massive, muscular frame seemed capable of blotting out the horizon. The air around him was so heavy that every breath taken felt like it was scorching the lungs. Moku’s description of Furfur paled in comparison to a face-to-face encounter. The figure before them was truly a living volcano.
Without preamble, Vakgar activated his Vivid Dream and immediately manifested the Kekayon Armor. Just like Goku, Vakgar was a user of the Pandava Bhima form. The Rujakpalo Mace took shape in his hands. With one colossal swing, the surrounding air was forcibly sucked in before being detonated in a blow that split the heavens.
Furfur watched the attack with casual indifference. His expression didn’t change in the slightest. He merely raised a fist as a circular magic diagram formed at its tip. The strike met the Rujakpalo Mace head-on.
BOOM!
A roar like two planets colliding shattered the eardrums. The ground beneath them heaved, split, and then disintegrated into fragments from the resulting shockwave. The Asuras deliberately fought as close to the enemy as possible so that the collateral damage of their attacks would sweep away the weaker Demons nearby.
Goku expected Furfur to move the location of the fight to protect his troops, but the Demon Volcano seemed not to care at all. The clash between Vakgar and Furfur alone had already incinerated hundreds of Demons in their vicinity.
However, the contest of strength did not last long. Furfur was far superior. Vakgar coughed up fresh blood and his body was sent hurtling into the ground, creating a giant crater. Goku did not remain idle; taking advantage of the opening while the enemy’s attention was still on Vakgar, he lunged forward.

The Pancanaka Claws and Rujakpalo Mace appeared in his hands. Goku’s body, already encased in the Kekayon Armor, looked like a flash of white light. Within the Pandava hierarchy, Goku had reached the pinnacle: full mastery of the Bhima form. Though it required massive Dragon Prana to manifest the form in its entirety, Goku chose only to bring forth his two weapons for maximum efficiency.
In an instant, the Pancanaka Claws swept toward Furfur’s neck. However, abruptly, the temperature around Furfur’s body skyrocketed so drastically that the air itself seemed to burn away.
Goku winced. The tip of his Pancanaka Claws was halted, unable to move forward simply due to the pressure of absolute heat. Furfur, who had been staring straight ahead, slowly glanced toward Goku. At that moment, a very real terror crawled through the veteran’s entire body.
Goku leaped back rapidly, but before he could stabilize his position, the earth beneath him cracked open. A massive pillar of magma erupted, aiming straight for him. Goku slammed his Rujakpalo Mace down to shatter the molten flow, causing the incandescent fluid to scatter and melt the unfortunate Demons who couldn’t escape the disaster in time.
But the surprises for Goku were not over. Other pillars of magma began to thrust up from the earth, as if a volcano were trying to break out from the very heart of the world. The vast area around them instantly transformed into a magma crater, incinerating everything in its wake.
