Chapter 142 Gin, Don’t Let Me Down

Chapter 142 Gin, Don’t Let Me Down

After hanging up the phone, Huiyuan Ai remained silent, her eyes fixed on Chen Shuo. Her expression was filled with confusion and confusion, and she finally whispered, "Just now...was that really Gin?"

Chen Shuo turned around, glanced at her, then raised a faint smile at the corner of his mouth and nodded slightly.

"Don't worry, it's okay." He raised his hand and ruffled Huibara Ai's hair, his gesture somewhat doting, as if she was just a child who needed comforting. "He doesn't have the courage to investigate the people around me."

Huiyuan Ai frowned slightly, obviously not satisfied with this answer: "Are you so confident in him? He is a crazy hyena."

Chen Shuo's smile remained unchanged, his voice relaxed yet revealing a sense of conviction. "He's a talented person, and I admire him very much. Only someone who knows his limits is worth collaborating with. Even if he saw you, he would just pretend not to notice."

Ai Huihara lowered her head, her voice low but with a barely perceptible tremor: "Back then, in order to save me and my sister, you killed dozens of people in the organization and even seriously injured Gin and Vodka... Will they really let it go?"

Chen Shuo looked at Huiyuan Ai who lowered her head. He did not answer immediately. Instead, he squatted down and picked her up. He patted her shoulder gently and said in a gentle but firm voice: "I will."

Huihara Ai raised her head, her eyes filled with confusion and uneasiness, while Chen Shuo revealed a meaningful smile: "In the past, Gin was just a killing machine trained by the organization. He had no choice but to do whatever the organization told him to do."

When he said this, his tone paused slightly, and his eyes slowly swept over Calvados who was lying unconscious on the ground, with an unfathomable deep meaning in his eyes.

"But," Chen Shuo said softly, a cold arc rising from the corner of his mouth, "I gave him a target."

Haibara Ai's body trembled slightly, and there was a hint of surprise and confusion in her eyes: "Target?"

Chen Shuo looked down at her, his eyes gentle but with a hint of depth. "Yes, a goal that is enough for him to break free from the 'chains of the organization'. Gin is no longer just a tool. He knows that he can live for himself."

"So..." Chen Shuo looked up at the snowy night outside the window, his tone firm, "He will let go of the past. Because he understands that instead of dwelling on past grudges, it's better to seize the opportunity to pave the way for his future. And I am the one who will give him that opportunity."

After hearing these words, the complex emotions in Huiyuan Ai's eyes gradually calmed down, but she was still a little uncertain in her heart: "Do you really trust him so much?"

"It's not that I believe it," Chen Shuo smiled and shook his head slightly, "I can see it. He's a smart man, and smart people don't do meaningless things."

After he finished speaking, he glanced at Calvados who was lying on the ground again and added softly, "And fools like him... are the easiest pieces to discard on the chessboard."

---

An hour later, the night deepened, a chill wind mingled with fine snowflakes, and distinct footsteps could be heard at the doorway of the dilapidated villa. Gin was the first to appear at the door, still wearing his black trench coat and hat, his cold gaze sweeping through the room. Vodka followed closely behind, his expression normal, as if accustomed to following Gin's lead. The last to enter was Vermouth, dressed in an elegant trench coat, a faint smile playing on her lips, but a hint of complexity lingered in her eyes.

The three of them walked into the destroyed villa and quickly locked their eyes on the people inside.

At that moment, Chen Shuo was leisurely sitting on a sofa that was still in good condition, holding Huibara Ai in his arms, with Mao Lilan and Sonoko beside him. The others sat around the sofa, sipping hot tea and chatting quietly, completely oblivious to the chaotic scene before them.

Gin glanced around, his cold gaze landing on Chen Shuo, his tone icy yet respectful: "Mr. Wuchen!"

Chen Shuo raised his head and looked at him, a faint smile appeared on the corner of his mouth. He raised his chin while holding the teacup, indicating that there was another person lying in the corner.

"He's one of yours, right?" Chen Shuo said casually. Calvados's body was still twitching, clearly still under the effects of the drug.

Gin's cold gaze swept over Calvados, his eyes narrowing slightly. He didn't answer immediately, but walked over slowly and gently kicked Calvados' shoulder with his toes, making him turn over and see his face clearly.

When Vodka saw this, he couldn't help but exclaimed: "Brother, it's Calvados!"

Vermouth's gaze swept gently across the room, finally landing unnoticed on Huibara Ai, who lay on Chen Shuo's lap. At that moment, she seemed somewhat nonchalant. A faint, unconcealable gloom flashed across Vermouth's eyes. For a moment, she seemed about to do something, but quickly suppressed all emotion and regained her composure, as if nothing had happened.

Gin stared at Calvados's miserable appearance, his brows furrowed slightly. He pondered for a moment, then looked up at Chen Shuo with a hint of inquiry in his eyes: "Can I know what exactly happened?"

Chen Shuo did not answer, but turned his head, looked at the garden beside him, and nodded slightly.

Sonoko slowly stood up, her movements graceful yet powerful. Her hand still gripped the Glock 19, but she didn't raise it. Her fingertips gently caressed the barrel, making her appear calm and dangerous. She was a completely different person, radiating an indescribable dignity and majesty.

She slowly scanned the people in the room, her gaze finally resting on Gin. Her voice was clear and steady as she quickly recounted what had happened. Then she walked up to Gin and stared at him. Her tone suddenly became sharp, and her gaze pierced Gin like a knife: "So, I want to ask, is this your organization's official declaration of war?"

Gin's brows twitched slightly, but he didn't answer immediately. Instead, he stared at Sonoko with a cold gaze, as if assessing her worth. At this moment, Sonoko had lost her usual casual and friendly demeanor. She stood there, her back straight, her aura as powerful as that of a queen, towering above. Even someone like Gin could sense the murderous intent in her gaze, which was undeniable.

Vodka felt Sonoko's sharp, knife-like gaze, and his heart tightened. Sonoko casually placed the Glock 19 against his chest, examining it. His fingers tapped the barrel, and the "tapping" sound it made was like dripping water, hitting Vodka's nerves and making him stiffen.

He subconsciously reached for his chest, wanting to pull out his weapon. However, just as his hand was about to touch the gun handle, a slender and cold hand gently pressed his wrist.

"Don't move." Vermouth's voice was gentle, yet it carried an undeniable force. Her movements seemed casual, but they made it impossible for Vodka to continue.

Vodka looked at Vermouth nervously, but she shook her head slightly and said nothing. The scene suddenly became tense. The air seemed to become stagnant, and only the sound of Sonoko tapping the gun barrel sounded particularly piercing in the silence.

The atmosphere in the room was suffocatingly quiet, a tense, oppressive feeling pervading everyone. Vodka stood behind Gin. Although his hand had been withdrawn from his chest, he remained stiff, a trace of sweat on his forehead. Vermouth gently released the hand that was holding Vodka and stood aside, her eyes glancing thoughtfully at Haibara Ai and Chen Shuo. The corners of her mouth curled slightly, but she said nothing.

Gin stood there, his hands in his windbreaker pockets, his eyes as cold as winter frost. His eyes swept over everyone, finally stopping at Vermouth. The coldness and murderous intent in his eyes made people feel like they were falling into an ice cellar.

Vermouth noticed Gin's gaze, but did not react at all. She still looked as if nothing had happened, as if all this had nothing to do with her.

After a long moment, Gin exhaled slightly and retracted his gaze. He walked in front of Chen Shuo, his expression still stern, but his movements were very appropriate.

He bowed slightly, his voice low and cold, yet with a rare sense of compromise: "This matter...we are indeed unaware of it. It must be that Calvados acted on his own, and it has nothing to do with the organization."

He stood up, his gaze falling back on Calvados lying on the ground, his tone tinged with cold murderous intent: "We will thoroughly investigate and give you an explanation."

Chen Shuo didn't respond immediately. Instead, he leaned back on the sofa, his slender fingers tapping the teacup gently, a crisp and rhythmic sound. His eyes were emotionless, and he simply glanced at Gin calmly, as if assessing his sincerity.

"Very good." After a moment, Chen Shuo finally spoke, his tone calm but unquestionable. "Three days! I only give you three days. I hope you won't let me down."

Gin nodded, his cold eyes devoid of any objection. He turned to look at Vodka and said in a low voice, "Take the Calvados away."

Vodka responded quickly, walked quickly towards Calvados on the ground, and reached out to drag him up. Although Calvados was unconscious at the moment, Vodka's actions were merciless, and he carried him directly on his shoulders.

Gin walked to the door, raised his hand slightly, and dialed a number. His tone was cold and concise: "Cleaner, Snowfield Villa, set meal for one." After hanging up the phone, he put the phone back into his windbreaker pocket and turned to look at Vermouth and Vodka: "Let's go."

Vodka, carrying the unconscious Calvados, strode ahead in silence. Vermouth stood beside Gin, glancing thoughtfully at the people in the room. A faint smile played at the corner of her mouth as she gracefully followed.

However, just as the three of them were about to step out of the villa, Chen Shuo's voice came from behind them. His tone was calm but revealed an authority that was difficult to ignore: "Gin."

Gin paused slightly, his body stiffened for a moment, then he slowly turned his head and looked at Chen Shuo coldly.

Chen Shuo leaned back on the sofa, legs crossed, fingers tapping lightly on the armrest. His gaze fell calmly on Gin, his tone still calm, but every word carried a force that could not be ignored: "I think you should know one thing - my patience is limited. I won't give you a second chance."

The atmosphere in the room froze once again, and a subtle complexity flashed across Gin's eyes. He didn't respond immediately. After a moment's silence, he nodded slightly, barely perceptible.

"I understand." His voice was as low as a knife cutting through ice, without any extraneous emotion.

Then, he turned and walked out of the villa, his black windbreaker rippling in the night breeze. Vodka followed closely behind, and Vermouth was the last to leave. Before leaving, she glanced back at Chen Shuo with a complicated expression, a hint of a smile. In the end, she said nothing and disappeared into the night without looking back.

The room fell silent again, with only the broken windows and bullet holes on the wall telling of the storm that had just occurred.

Yuanzi curled her lips in dissatisfaction and looked at Chen Shuo, with a hint of doubt in her tone: "Just let them go like this? I always feel that the woman named Vermouth might know something."

Haibara Ai nodded slightly, her expression calm but with a hint of vigilance: "She is indeed not an ordinary person. Everyone in the organization calls her the 'witch'. Her scheming is unfathomable, and...she seems to be favored by the boss. Such a person must not be underestimated."

Chen Shuo, however, remained unmoved. He simply chuckled at their concerns. He placed the teacup back on the table, leaned back on the sofa, and crossed his arms over his chest. His tone shone with a calm confidence, "It's okay. It's just a minor issue. This incident actually gives me a good opportunity to force Gin to speak out."

His eyes narrowed slightly, a hint of icy coldness emanating from them. He glanced at the devastation around him and said in a chillingly calm tone, "If Gin disappoints me..."

When he said this, a cold light flashed in his eyes, and his voice suddenly became deep and powerful: "Although it's a pity, we can only let them disappear completely."
